This will be my first time using one of these. I have a flock of 5 hens and one rooster. The possibilities of having a fertile egg are good but not always 100%. We used it in the bathroom it was the darkest spot for best results. The instruction that came explained about the air sack on the inside and exactly what to look for> Being a new user of the product I appreciated the extra info.

Seems fairly bright for being battery powered. I checked multiple eggs that had been under a setting hen. This was quite helpful in taking some of the excess out

Very pleased with the Brinsea OvaView egg candling lamp. I was using a flashlight previously and it was just so hard to tell what was going on inside. This little unit took care of that. I can now tell which eggs are fertile or not. It’s neat seeing the little chicks growing inside their shells now.

I only used it on cochin bantam eggs (so close to the size of average chicken eggs), and it worked great. It was a little big for checking turtle eggs.

I'm new to hatching/candling eggs, but this works well! You can see inside the eggs wonderfully. It comes with the batteries you need as well, which is great.
