Let me explain about my boy. He is a whopping 87lb, 11 month old rescue mix. Bully, probably, Lab/Shar-pei/Mastiff and Rhodisian also possible. And in the recent months, he has developed a (what i frustratedly call)Jekyll & Hyde personality, namely at work, a dog daycare/boarding facility. He starts off very friendly and submissive, wiggling on his belly, wagging his tail, licking faces, the whole nine, plays with the dog for a while, moves off, lays down and relaxes for a bit, and then the next time the same dog even comes near him, he'll snap at their faces out of nowhere, with intent to harm. There is very little warning and he will (if given the chance) escalate to causing wounds. I'm not giving him that chance. Hence the muzzel. Part of it is truama I believe, as he had gotten attacked by a dog who broke through the chain link of the devider fence to get at him, but it doesn't explain why he starts off friendly and then goes 180, out of nowhere, without them even playing or doing anything except walking by. Hes also, since his nueter started resource guarding. This muzzle has taken away his ability to snap, and since he has been far more attentive to direction, and actually seems less stressed, because he can't escalate. This means he has to rely on me. (Which is how it should be.) The muzzle fits him very nicely, is sturdy, and doesn't come loose when he tries to rub or pull it off. (We've only had it a week at this point, so he is still adjusting.) He also minds it FAR less than his gentle leader. Something I did not expect. He walked in it like a dream, plays in it while in group, has sucessfully drank in it, and also still happily consumes snow in the yard through it. It has also had the benefit of stopping him from scavenging for the dreaded poopsicles. Of course when we are at home, with his sibilings, he doesn’t have to wear it, but in public this muzzle serves as the perfect safeguard for the other dogs, and for himself. He will be wearing it out in public for the foreseeable future, around strange humans, and any group of dogs, whether that is daycare, the dog park or trail walks. (He cannot afford a bite history, looking the way he does. ) it has provided me peace of mind as well, as he is not longer a liability risk. I have never been a fan of the look of basket muzzles, mostly due to people getting the wrong idea, and the heavy, confined look. but I think this one looks quite handsome, its much lighter in build than most I've seen, but just as sturdy. It has successfully stopped more than one snap already.

Purchased this for a senior Rottweiler rescue that we got who had a serious Rottie Rumble”. He scared the vets so we purchased this to keep everybody happy. It’s a great muzzle, that fits well, stays on, is comfortable for the dog, and lets them breathe normally. Highly recommend.

Roger did not fear his first muzzle training session. I simply slipped it on and he no reaction . His breathing was effortless and he happily accepted treats while wearing it! Muzzle tracing is essential to ensure Vets and staff while they treat your favorite doggie! (No matter how gentle your “ beast” is)

It was wide enough for my Bouvier

This basket muzzle has padding across nose bridge, if lighter to wear and has a better fit
