How big is the smallest portion setting?

I’m not sure if this is a volumetric portioning or by weight, but for my cat-who is on a prescription diet, the kibble for the smallest portion is about 1-1.5 tablespoons. The photo I have attached is 2 portions and you can allot up to 20 when you program it for feeding times.

Is it BPA plastic?

This automatic feeder can feed 4 meals per day, and can set 1 to 20 portions per meal, each portion is about 7 grams (±2g), and no limit to manual feeding. There will be some deviation according to the size and density of the food.

Do i have to use a dessicant bag with this feeder?

It is strongly recommended to use a desiccant bag with this feeder to not only keep the kibble fresh but to also contain any crumbs and oils from the food.

Cats knocked over food bowl!

I thought this was a great auto feeder but my cats have figured out how to knock over the entire machine and eat food straight out of the top. I tried to weigh it

I thought this was a great auto feeder but my cats have figured out how to knock over the entire machine and eat food straight out of the top. I tried to weigh it down with books on top but they are too smart. I also tried to tape it to the ground, no luck. They also figured out how to take off the black top and get to all the food. Wouldn’t recommend if your pet is very food motivated or obsessed like my cats are.

Works great for the price! Convenient!

I began using this feeder with small cat kibble in January of 2023 and it’s still functioning and serving its purpose. We recently switched to a different dry kibble and had zero issues with the slightly larger pieces. Although it’s not super simple to program and set the time it can be done if you read and follow the provided instructions. It plugs in but also has battery backup which is great if you have a kitty determined to never miss a meal. The feeding dish can be removed and washed as necessary. For the price and based on my experience I’d recommend this feeder. If you read the instructions it’s easy to setup and has been 100% reliable for almost 3 years as of November 2025. I wish they made extra feeding dishes more available so you could have an extra clean one to swap out. I did reach out to customer service a while back and was referred to a stainless dish from another brand feeder that would fit if I recall. However, it was too expensive for the a single spare dish so I let it go.

Since it was past the warranty of the original order, I couldn’t get a replacement or refund. I’ve also had issues with it not dispensing the correct amount of food. Overall I’d recommend a different feeder.

I would have to add a minute to the feeding time every week to get it back on schedule. The other feeder completely stopped working after about a 45 days when the electronic board went out, which I guess isn’t surprising given how cheap it looked when we investigated it. I spent a frustrating amount of money to quickly end up with 0 automatic feeders.

Watch out for power outages/surges!

... even if you do have a battery back up. I bought this for my cat 6 weeks ago specifically so I can go out of town for 4 days and not have to ask my neighbor to worry about feeding him. We have been getting bad storms and flooding this weekend which caused a power outage and killed the feeder. All day, I been gaslighting him and calling him fat (the cat, not the neighbor) cause he's been begging for food even though I was confident he had already been fed several times! Poor little dude. I don't even want to imagine what would have happened if the feeder died while I was out of town and the neighbor didn't realize he wasn't getting fed either!

I bought this about 2 years ago. Worked great up until now, but now it’s just completely stopped working - screen blank, nothing visibly wrong with the plug, different outlets don’t work. I’m past the return policy so I can’t get a refund. But what I’m most upset about is that because it stopped working out of nowhere, I could’ve been gone to visit family and my cat could’ve went days without food :( Thankfully I was here to see it stop working.
