Choking hazard for toy breeds

A week ago, I gave both of my pomeranians a small piece of this jerky because they're small dogs and the fully pieces of jerky are quite big. My female pomeranian swallowed a piece that was too big and it got caught in her throat. We had to give her the heimlich maneuver for about 10 minutes to clear her airway. In the process, she aspirated and in the following days, she got sicker and stopped eating or drinking. Two days later, when we knew she wasn't getting better, we took her to the vet where she was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia. She's now on TWO different antibiotics for 10 days. The ingredients in these jerky strips are great, I love that they're made in the USA. However, because of the flat, wide shape of them, I don't recommend them for small dogs, unless you give it to them piece by piece.

Best for younger, larger dogs

The ingredients in theses jerky strips were decent and that's important to me for my pomp mix Ginger. She also was mightily enthusiastic as I broke open the bag, and the aroma was quite pleasant, even for a dog treat. That said, these strips were clearly far too large and thick for my girl. Although she is only 8 or so, she came to me with a mouthful of rotten chompers, half of which she lost of out necessity. To solve the dilemma, I opted to bring out the kitchen shears and cut each pieces into a size more appropriate for my 14lb charge. To my surprise, the kitchen shears had a tough time! Needless to say, while I really like these treats (and so does Ginger!), I think they are better served to larger canine connoisseurs with owners younger than 70!

These Rise & Shine Chicken jerky bars are a hit with my pups, one a picky senior. The bars are just soft enough to be easily chewed. One bar is eagerly shared between them for lunch. Little pieces of this obviously deliciousness are shared during the day for treats. Made from pure ingredients, I feel that this jerky is a healthy choice for my pups and good for them.

Great for training

The jerky is larger than I expected but easy to break into smaller pieces. It is soft and chewy and the pups seem to enjoy it. I like the fact that I can use one

The jerky is larger than I expected but easy to break into smaller pieces. It is soft and chewy and the pups seem to enjoy it. I like the fact that I can use one piece for both dogs when we are working on training. I would use this as a regular treat or as a training treat I can easily break up.
