Is this mat absorbent?

WaterHog mats are very absorbent. They are designed to hold water and built to air dry. They are rubber-backed to not allow water to seep through.

I needed new placemats to put under our cat's food and water bowls. I got this one to go under the food bowls. It arrived this week. Workmanship and quality are good. Paw pattern is adorable. Background color is neither what I expected nor what I wanted. It is darker than shown in images at Chewy website. Mat is quite a bit darker in person than in photos and is distinctly gray. It does the job, but I am quite disappointed in the color.
