Our 30 year old, incredibly destructive umbrella cockatoo consumes one of these gigantic hanging block toys every year. Cockatoo Syd is making them last at this rate. She could demolish it into toothpicks in a week or less. Birds can be weird about new additions to their space but our model welcomed this one at first sight and is always thrilled when we get a new one! We remove chain length as Syd consumes the toy for safety, cutting links out with a bolt cutter and re-hanging what’s left. It is heavy and it is BIG. Might want help to hang it. At this point Syd can be trusted to supervise the installation of the hanging block toy from inside with us as we do it. Your model might need to be removed to a bird carrier to keep everyone safe as it is hung. New toys can be introduced from a safe distance the first time. We play with a new toy while Syd watches. Move it closer. Watch for the telltale reaching and begging before we actually put anything IN her space. Consent is a deal in the bird world, or at least in our bird world. Highly recommend!
