Things are much cleaner

Helps keep shells off the floor!
I was looking for a way to keep the floor around my bird cage cleaner- their seed makes a mess every day. This feeder box is really helpful by keeping the shells
I was looking for a way to keep the floor around my bird cage cleaner- their seed makes a mess every day. This feeder box is really helpful by keeping the shells inside the box! The birds can sit inside the box while eating, the seeds fall into the box and not fly out of the cage. There is one space for fresh seed and another where the shells land. My birds had no issues with accessing food. I do have one issue- the hooks are a pain when taking the box out to dump shells and refill. The hooks make it difficult to take in and out. of the cage, and you have to be very careful dumping the shells because the hooks fall off. I've had to dig them from the trash twice ( I remove them before dumping now). The hooks should be fixed to the cage so that removal and placement are easy. It takes 2 hands to put the feeders back in the cage. It has the ability to attach to the outside of the cage allowing the birds to access through an open hatch. I have not tried that yet.
Birds refuse to use it
I have a Bourke's Parakeet and Lineolated Parakeet, and neither of them will use this. It's well made and attached easily to a cage with guillotine style doors,

It's well made and attached easily to a cage with guillotine style doors, but even loading it up with their favorite foods they are too afraid to enter it. That or the all clear design confuses them. I had high hopes!

Life saver - fix for hooks
These feeders have reduced the waste my birds kick out of their cage considerably! Like other reviewers mentioned, the hooks do not work well. I solved this by tying
These feeders have reduced the waste my birds kick out of their cage considerably! Like other reviewers mentioned, the hooks do not work well. I solved this by tying a knot in the middle of a twist tie, folding it in half where the knot is and pushing both free ends through the hole the hook would go through, one twist tie for each hole. The knot catches on the inside and you have two free ends to tie onto the cage. This fix has lasted me several years with these feeders, and I love them!

I wish it was a little larger so that at least 2 birds could feed at the same time. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I think it should come with some extra hooks. They don't like to stay put and it's hard to remember about them when you go to discard seed remnants. I lost one when I went to empty it in the back of my yard and searched the grass thinking this is like looking for a needle in a haystack. I miraculously found it pretty close to where I emptied it. I would have had to jimmy rig otherwise and that would not have worked out very well.

This feeder is a great idea and it does alleviate a lot of the mess. It fits well on my cage. My only issue is that the hooks are not attached to the container

If you forget to remove them before you dump it, they fall in the trash can. The first time I lost one in the trash, I dug through it to find it. The second time was way too much of a mess. So I’m down to one hook. This would work perfect for me if the hooks were attached.

Good idea, poorly designed
The idea is ideal. Problem is hooks are not stationary, not wide enough to hook onto cage, and move when trying to fill creating problems. Hooks also fall off
