It has significant design flaws that make it almost useless. I have access to a machine shop and can probably modify it to make it usable. It is hazardous because it is held together with a tiny wing nut on top. The nut is small enough that even a cockatiel could swallow it. All of my birds and nearly all parrots love undoing wing nuts. In order to use it, I’ll need to manufacture an appropriate long threaded tube with the right thread. There are other issues, involving a flimsy c clip but none of them are likely to kill your parrot. Not up to Caitec’s usual standards. I’m going to email the company.

Our small Cockatoo rotates through his feeders regularly, and this one is one of my favorites. He loves to take apart ANYTHING in his cage and destroy it before actually using it, and he can’t get this one open to take it apart. The wing nut tightens so you have to hold the base of the feeder so the top doesn’t spin with it, and he’s not tall enough to reach both!!! When he tries, the whole feeder just spins. It drops food fairly fast so it doesn’t keep him busy for hours, but still makes him work for it. Fairly easy to take apart to clean, stainless steel rod in the middle so it won’t rust. Comes with a tray so the food doesn’t just fall to the bottom of the cage. Very durable plastic, his medium beak hasn’t been able to do any functionality damage, only cosmetic. The prongs that hold it to the cage are kinda flimsy, they broke off after a while and we had to superglue them back on (not reachable when it’s on the cage, the fastener covers it so it’s protected from our baby). Very easy to over tighten to the cage as well to break the prongs. Overall a great product, keeps our bird busy even when he’s has gotten all the food out. 4 stars due to the prong issue

Congo African Grey Loves This Toy

We use this with our Congo African Grey who was previously throwing his pellet bowl on the floor of his cage. We put some pellets and a few small pieces of nuts in this. It took about two days for him to really figure it out. Now, even though he understands how it works, it is enough of a challenge that he can work at it for quite a while before he empties it. The toy mounts easily on the cage (1" bar spacing) and seems durable enough that it should last a long time. Great investment!
