The lead should control their nose as well as their head but it does not control their nose at all. I am not pleased with this product
My dog was already 7 mths old when we tried this collar to stop her from pulling. After her drama queen little fit that she had for having something over her nose, she calmed down & actually listened to my words, "heel" & she did beautifully! I highly recommend this collar for a simple resolution to pulling & for training a dog to heel.
My Markus is a 165 lb Great Dane. His back stands above my hip line. So he is pretty big. And a puller. I have tried so many different styles of head collars and they all just are not worth the money. The first time I put this on him and started to walk, he still tried to pull some (its just what he does) but he didn't fight it. It centered behind his neck and stayed put. The nose part didn't ride up into his eyes or rub wrong on his face. It makes it so much easier to walk him now.
Have tried numerous head type halters over the years as prefer having control of my dog's head as she is very reactive. However with the rest she became a champ at a one paw swipe getting the nose piece off so I have much less control. She has yet to try to get the nose piece of the Canny product off. I do use a shorter leash so most of the time the nose piece stays in place and she's able to do her sniffing without a problem. But there have been times there's been enough slack for it to fall off her nose so 4 stars. Do like that it comes with an actual collar part as well for back up.
I got this as an alternative to a gentle leader bc that halter tends to dig into my dog’s snout. But the gentle leader works better to reduce pulling bc you can turn your dog’s head. The focal point of the canny collar is behind the dog’s head so it doesn’t allow you to turn the head, only pull straight back.
Really love this product! I have a young mastiff and she was such a puller on her harness and colar. But with this Canny Colar she instantly stopped pulling. She is getting used to the strap on her muzzle. But as long as I distract her and reward her for having it on she is getting used to ot fast.
First of all, the clips that hold the leash are much to flimsy to hold back my 115 pound great dane Sheperd mix. Also the instructions including the video are not clear. The nose piece slides into my dogs eyes not matter how I adjust it and lastly my dogs is constantly trying to pull it off. I think it would be helpful to state that this collar may not be effective on super strong dogs. Right now I am stuck with a very pretty collar that is useless to for what I wanted to use it for. Chewey has been very good to me , hate to complain but this collar is not made for very strong dogs
I have an 89 pound chocolate lab and she pulls!! I had tried the gentle lead which hooks underneath her head! That just gets into her eye when I pull back! This canny collar is awesome to use! It keeps my dog from pulling me around and it doesn’t get in her eye!! I would recommend this collar!!!
I tried this on my 9 pound doxie, she got it off within seconds.
