I think it goes over the top of your helmet if you read how it is described, that way it fits a variety of helmets without bunching up either under your helmet or under your chin strap..that would be why it is open on top..give it a try over everything and give another review because I am curious if you like it that way.

Not at all what I expected.

It's open at the top. I expected it to be tent-like. It means I have to bunch it up and tuck it under a hat.
