I wish that I could give this cat scratcher 5 stars. My cat just doesn't like to use one. She will scratch and sniff it when I first sprinkle the catnip on it but then has no use for it. I think it's my cat and not the scratcher because she does this with every scratcher I have purchased.
not steady enough
on Nov 3, 2020
My cat is used to vertical standing posts from his fostering place and doesn't like horizontal ones. Moreover the board is light weights and will move when he uses it, either lying down or when lifted against the wall in a vertical position. Our cat prefers something that's steady so he'd rather scratch on the carpet or even my socks.
Perfect for new cat

This is a great buy for anyone who's not sure what their cat will like. I just adopted a 5-month-old kitten, and I'm a first-time cat owner. Didn't want to spend too much money before I knew her preferences. First purchase was a little more expensive (sisal) but she didn't take to it, so I came back for this one based on the reviews. She took to it immediately (she seems to like horizontal carpet surfaces, otherwise). Recommend for the list of basic purchases for anyone adopting. FWIW, my kitty is quite small (3.5 lb), but I'm glad I got the large.
My cats LOVE this!

As soon as I took this cat scratcher out of the box my cats were all over it! They sleep on it, play on it and fight over it. Whether it has catnip on it or not. Best result is they no longer scratch on my expensive carpets.
more of a chew toy for us

I find my cat biting up the blue cardboard box around it instead of scratching the material inside. Overall, happy with the product though. My cat will sometimes nap on it when she’s tired of gnawing through the cardboard.
My cats like this okay.

It’s not a bad scratching pad but if my cats don’t stand entire body on it it will slide all over the place. It’s a little difficult for them to use. They do better with the round plastic scratching pad that had the ball that goes around it.

My roommate's cat loves to tear up the carpet in our new apartment. From the moment we unwrapped this scratcher, he converted to only scratching it. I'm planning to get one for every room in our apartment! Great price and well worth the money.
Saving my furniture

My four kitties love this, I should have gotten them each one because they fight over it and sit on it to keep the others away from it. This is without the catnip because one of my kitties seems to be allergic to catnip.
It's what they prefer...

3 cats, 6 yrs, 5 yrs & 2. Many trial & errors involving the "perfect cat scratcher" but I can tell you stop spending money on the fancy ones, this is what all 3 of mine love & I love that my furniture is in tact....also de-clawing is not an option, I love my fur babies too much.
3 kitties love it!

I have one large adult cat and two kittens, all three love it for scratching and sleeping on it!. The cardboard has held up well so far, and they have been using for several weeks.
