Compounding is a way for licensed pharmacists to create a customized medication that meets your pets specific needs. Compounding pharmacists mix or change one or more FDA-approved medications to prepare a special medication for your pet. For example, if a medication is only available in pill form, the pharmacist might create it in liquid, gel, or capsule form.

Our Australian Shepherd had been taking Allegra for allergies, but unfortunately it was no longer working. Our vet recommended that we switch him to this medication and that we also eliminate all unnecessary foods to try and figure out what he’s allergic to. Instead of giving him the tablet form of this medication with peanut butter, we decided to try to give him the liquid instead. (since we were trying to eliminate unnecessary foods out of his diet, that included giving his medication with peanut butter). Unfortunately, he absolutely hates this and will not take it from anyone. In fact, he actually runs away when he sees me take it out. I tried giving it to him multiple different ways, but he absolutely hates it. Even our other dog that will eat anythinggggg doesn’t seem interested. Bummer considering it’s expensive compared to the tablet form.
My cat Yoda has been suffering from congestion lately and he's been living fur off of his belly. Took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with allergies. The vet put him on steroids and they took away the congestion but they didn't really seem to help the problem, only mask it for a little while. Plus, I didn't like the idea of long-term steroid use. I did some research and I found this. Figured that I have to take Zyrtec on a daily basis so why not Yoda? Asked my vet if I could give it a try and she approved. Yoda's been taking this stuff daily for a couple of weeks now and the congestion is gone! I think I even see some hair growing back on his belly but that could just be wishful thinking. Here's hoping!
My two boys have taken a lot of medicine lately. This chicken-flavored zyrtec passed detection in their food and was less $ than the other place I've gotten chicken-flavored medicine for them.
