Nice-looking sweater, but hard to get on

I ordered an XL for our 40-lb border collie, based on reviews. The sweater looks nice and is well-made with thick yarn. It fits his back length perfectly and also has nice belly coverage. The only drawback is that the neck is quite snug so it is hard to get on over his head and ears. Front legs have to go in separate openings first, then I pull it up to his armpits in order to stretch it high enough to pop his head through the neck opening. It would be nice if it had a button opening or a looser neck opening to make putting it on a bit easier. Also, I put it over a harness that has a side attachment ring for the leash so I can attach it under one side of the sweater. Since there is no opening in the sweater to attach a leash, a harness that attaches on top may not work. Our dog seems happy to wear the sweater for walks on cold days, despite the struggle to get it on.

This is a very nice heavy sweater that has really good fit. I bought it for my XXL size senior dog. It will be good for the very cold winter ahead. The measurements for fitting are very true to size and following those guidelines the sweater fit perfectly.
