FAQ
Compounding is a way for licensed pharmacists to create a customized medication that meets your pets specific needs. Compounding pharmacists mix or change one or more FDA-approved medications to prepare a special medication for your pet. For example, if a medication is only available in pill form, the pharmacist might create it in liquid, gel, or capsule form.
Your pet may have a specific health need that cannot be addressed by an FDA-approved drug. For example:
- Your pet has trouble taking pills but will take medication in a flavored liquid or other form.
- Your pet needs medication in a strength that is not commercially available.
- Your pet is allergic to a specific ingredient in a medication.
Always talk with your veterinarian about any concerns you have about your pets health so they can prescribe a treatment for your pets unique needs.

It is not required to have a written prescription on hand when you place your order, but Chewy Pharmacy must have a patient-specific prescription from a licensed veterinarian on file before it can dispense a medication. At checkout, simply select: I want Chewy to contact my vet, and we will contact your veterinarian on your behalf to get your pets prescription. If you prefer and have a written prescription when you place your order, you can mail it to: Chewy Pharmacy, 3621 Fern Valley Rd, Louisville, KY 40219. Mailing in a prescription will likely lead to longer ship times.

Cat HATES the flavor of these and REFUSES to eat them. Save yourself the hassle and stick with the stuff you can get from your local vet (which he loves and gobbles right up), the few dollars you can save ordering these is not worth it. Chewy needs to check the flavoring/formula that they're using for these.
No fuss - Works well for my cat
The 3mg tablets are large as some have noted, but we find that we can cut them into quarters and put them in with dried food. Our cat snaps them right up. Appreciate
The 3mg tablets are large as some have noted, but we find that we can cut them into quarters and put them in with dried food. Our cat snaps them right up. Appreciate that we get to avoid the drama of pilling or coaxing with pill pockets. As the items are in a small, flat package, it would be great if Chewy mailed these in an envelop through the postal service rather than a box through FedEx. Please consider.
My cat won't touch these

I've ordered chewable medications from other pet pharmacies and they've been great, the best way to give a pet medication. So when I saw these on Chewy when looking for a possible liquid solution, I thought this would be the best solution. Unfortunately, my cat wants nothing to do with them. They're a very different texture than the ones I got from other pharmacies, much tougher. And apparently the flavor is nasty! Bummer.
Not fresh, kitty tried to eat, too hard

Reported it was old and unfreshed and hard and would not process return. It's been a while since I bought this but I believe we tried to do another shipment and they were just as bad. Will not use chewy to get any medicine in the future. Their warehouse or storage is not keeping the medicine fresh. I thought they were going to compound them when I placed the order but this was something off the shelf that was old and hard as a rock.
Not for my kid

I wish I had read the reviews before I spent my money. First, these things are huge, I think only a large cat or dog could actually eat them. They are also kind of sticky, so when my kid did get it into his mouth, after I cut it up, or almost completely pulverized one of them, he would immediately spit it out or drop it. I even tried hiding it in his food, he would either eat around the pieces or just eat out of another bowl entirely. Not everything can be great, but Chewy is great, so please do not take this review as a mark on Chewy.
Too large and tasted bad
I tried this with the idea of softening it in my 18 year olds food but I couldn’t hid its taste. It’s a large chew and hard to hide it’s flavor I will try pills

Dog chews advertised for cats
Why would a company advertise dog chews as being for both dogs and cats? Clearly the folks in the marketing department have never owned cats or only care about making
Why would a company advertise dog chews as being for both dogs and cats? Clearly the folks in the marketing department have never owned cats or only care about making profits off of cat owners. These things are huge. And they're hard. And the tuna flavoring did not appear appetizing to my kitty. I considered grinding it into a paste to mix with something else in an attempt to fool my cat, but these chews are so big I think it would fill her up and she wouldn't eat her regular food later. Meh, shame on the manufacturer for trying to fleece cat owners into buying their dog products.
Cat won’t touch
Cat refused to touch even when crouched in her favorite churus. We’ve had to throw out.

Very dense . Cat didn't like. Not even in very small pieces. Couldn't even hide it in her food.

i have these for my 7 month old kitten who has seasonal allergies. they work pretty well but i’m considering switching to a liquid for a couple of reasons. one, these treats are really hard and he can’t chew it all at once. i have to cut it up into fours with a butter knife so he can take them. second my kitten will only take them if drizzled in kitty gogurt which i don’t necessarily mind. my kitten specifically does pretty well with liquid medicine so we might switch to that because these are a bit more difficult for him to take.
