I bought this toy thinking it would be better than throwing wood sticks and debris in the lake. I read all the product information and reviews saying this product would float and was made for the water. The first time using this toy we threw it in the lake for our lab and it sunk and was lost. Waste of money if you plan to use it in the water. It was also was not very sturdy and was very floppy and bendable.
I got this along with the Ultra Ring Fetch Toy - this one is still alive and well - the ring is dead, jim. A little too big for my Corsenji, but that may be helping her not chew it up because it's a challenge for her to handle. Also where the orange and blue come together, there isn't as wide of a gap is there was on the Ultra Ring - so no teeth have made their way in there yet to demolish this one. Also scares the bejesus out of my husband when it's thrown indoors - so that makes this more fun for me, too.
My dog loves this thing. I’m about to buy our third one, because he IS a tough chewer and he CAN destroy this - just like everything else - but it lasts waaaay longer than everything else (months rather than hours for most toys, sometimes days, or occasionally a week if he really likes it and doesn’t want me to take it away from him) and he LOVES IT MORE THAN LIFE ITSELF
Toys don’t last in our house for more than a few minutes. If we give extra supervision they last maybe a day. And most of the chew toys that do “last” end up leaving little nylon/plastic pieces all over that you inevitably step on and curse your ancestors. Alternatively, our dog chews till his gums bleed and we have to take it away. This one is the exception! This toy has lasted two years against a piranha/lab mix; no shreds of toy left behind, and soft enough that it doesn’t cut him up! My dog finally chewed through it, and it’s about to break in half… but come on… TWO YEARS! Incredible. We’ve played tug and fetch, and let our guy free chew on it. Not sure what this is made of, but puppy owners should consider using it to build everything they own. Highly recommend.
Im not entirely sure if I glossed over this detail before buying or just forgot, but this smells like vanilla! My guess is to prevent it smelling like rubber, but vanilla is a curious choice. Regardless, it’s a stick! Unlike its natural counterparts, it doesn’t splinter or break and won’t have foreign potentially hazardous biology all over or in it either.
We love this. It is very durable and we have a tuff chewer on our hands. The only issue I have with it is that it keeps getting stuck under furniture, haha! Lots of fun for the pup, would recommend.
After reading other reviews, I thought this might be an option for my 60-lb Lab puppy that is an aggressive chewer and loves to fetch (and chew) sticks. Nope! He fetched and returned it about 3 or 4 times, sat down with it and started chewing, and ripped an end off before I managed to take it away from him. Fortunately, I was able to pull the chunk that he tore off out of his mouth before he swallowed it. It's probably fine for many dogs, but this toy definitely isn't suitable for truly aggressive chewers.
Excited my to get this toy for my stick fetching dog. BUT we live by the Ocean and the first time I threw it in the water it was gone. It sank:( I practiced throwing on land. It was difficult to put into throwing device especially if dog is near and excited. I would not recommend- hard to use and sinks
I bought this for my 1 year old dog a month or so ago . Little did i know ,it quickly became her go to toy. My dog is a heavy chewer and is quick to rip things apart but she hasn't ripped this stick to shreds.
Our 15 lb bat-eared Jack Russell terrier absolutely loves these. We have 5 or 6 and we play fetch with them several times a day.
