This is a very nice set of weave poles that's easy to adjust as your dog learns. You can start with them offset slightly to form a channel so it's easier for the dog to know where to go, and then gradually align them to get your dog weaving nicely. You could also use these to teach the 2x2 method. I like how they are basically pre-assembled and evenly spaced, so they help your dog weaving fast without you having to measure to space them out yourself. Only thing that is an issue is that if your dog is running through them fast, they'll knock them out of alignment, so after multiple runs you'll have to take a minute to realign them. Outside on grass you can stake them down, but inside the house it's kind of hard to secure them to the floor.
I have been training 2 dogs for agility for many years, and finally decided to buy a set of weave poles. These are very nice, and sturdy enough for my 85 lb. dog. HOWEVER, Chewy should let customers know what products are imported from China, and nowhere in the description did I see this. I prefer not to buy Chinese products, and would not have purchased the set if I had known that. I was under the impression that a product had to be notated if it were imported.
This is easy to use and very mobile, easy to move and to put away when not in use.
It packs up into a nylon duffle which is nice for transpoting it. Nice for training as you can easily adjust it. There are tent stakes to hold it down. I would probably not use on a powerful, high drive dog as they could snap the poles. However, for training my newer dog and my older one that needs to pick up speed, these are ideal.
This item is higher quality than I expected. Thick base, light weight, and flexible rather than brittle. Poles do not warp. Travel bag is sturdy and has a lengthwise zipper. Very good for gradual training of weaves indoors. Exactly what I needed.
I'm very happy with the weave poles! They are exactly as pictured and described and seem very sturdy. They are an excellent choice for home training weave poles. I have a 27 lb Miniature American Shepherd that is a beginner and these weave poles work well for him. I would recommend them as practice weave poles. Chewy always ships fast and they came well packaged. They are lightweight and I like the carrying case for easy transport.
I got these to use in a fundamentals agility I am teaching. They were affordable, easy to use and multifunctional for teaching weaves for handlers and dogs. The base standards are plastic and assembled with plastic rivets, which may fail with heavy use. If that happens I think they could be repaired with other hardware. So far so good in class, and I have suggested them for home practice to some of my more serious students.
This product is great for introductory education! Also for in house use on a long non skid rug.
These are OK for basic training, slow dogs, or dogs learning with the channel weave method. However if you have a dog who does weaves fast, you'll need to upgrade. Dogs can push the weaves and get stuck and the movement is not ideal for training. If you intend to compete in agility, look for a more sturdy set, with a metal base.
We are just starting out agility and this set is perfect to practice at home. Seems like nice quality but the grass stakes are missing and there was no instructions included either.
