is this only for use on saltwater aquariums?

This skimmer can be used in freshwater, but it will not be as effective as standard water maintenance.

Not a good skimmer

I can appreciate the idea of a HOB filter/skimmer combo but it is not a practical skimmer. The microbubbles are all over in the tank without the air valve open all

I can appreciate the idea of a HOB filter/skimmer combo but it is not a practical skimmer. The microbubbles are all over in the tank without the air valve open all the way. The flow is too much for the filter element so is bypasses over the filter from new/clean. Nice idea but doesn't work.

Very Noisy

New right out of the box very noisy. Greased it with petroleum jelly and still noisy Would not purchase another one.

This system is horrible. The protien skimmer makes so many micro bubbles that it upset my coral. Also all it does is make extremely wet foam. Constantly empty and
