Won't take a charge

I got this for my mom for Christmas. It worked for a while but when the battery ran low it wouldn't accept a charge and it won't turn on again.

Bought this feeder bec I liked the idea of a wooden feeder as opposed to the plastic bright colored feeders that don’t harmonize with surrounding landscape. Unfortunately, I found the design problematic. First, the wood quality is a little cheap, kind of a balsa wood feeling. The roof isn’t securely connected to the walls, and the whole thing doesn’t end up feeling very solid when you’re done with assembly. Also, contrary to the picture on Chewy’s site, the plastic “window” that contains the seed only comes up about 4”, about half the height of the walls that could theoretically hold the seed (the picture shows the plastic window about as tall as the feeder walls. As a result, the feeder holds only about half the birdseed it might otherwise hold with a taller plastic window, and the seed behind the small plastic window will be exposed to the elements through the 4-5” gap between the window and the roof, a problem if there’s a windy rainstorm. Also, the space below the window to distribute the seed runs wall to wall (rather than allowing only a smaller hole), so I imagine that seed may spill out the bottom too fast, given the lack of resistance. (I didn’t try it, so perhaps that’s doesn’t prove to be a problem.). The assembly instructions were quite clear, but left off at the point where you’re supposed to run the cable from the solar panel to the camera. One diagram in the instruction book seems to show the panel connected to the roof of the feeder, but that would limit flexibility catching the sun so not a great plan. Before getting back to Chewy for a refund (which they, of course, cheerfully offered), I tried calling the Coziwow helpline to see if there was any way to address my concerns with design, but the sound quality and deeply accented voice of the Coziwow helpline system made options difficult to understand/navigate. The system hung up on me as soon as I chose what I thought was “problem with existing purchase.” Sadly, I think, for now, the plastic feeders are your better choice.
