Not suitable

While I’d like to say this cage is suitable it is not. Pine even kiln dried still contains some phenols which are toxic to small animals such as hamsters and mice

While I’d like to say this cage is suitable it is not. Pine even kiln dried still contains some phenols which are toxic to small animals such as hamsters and mice. This cage is geared towards mainly hamsters but some may try to use it for mice. Taking it out of the box it has a strong phenol order. If it bothers me it would bother my small animals. The wood can easily be soiled, grow mold and make your animal sick as it’s difficult to remove urine. It is also not chew proof. The cage itself is 504.6 sq inches under the US minimum of 600 sq inches for hamsters. For Syrian or teddy bear hamsters the minimum is 775 sq inches. This cage has large vent holes that even a Syrian can escape from. I do not recommended this product for fear of lost animals, health concerns and living space. The product itself is of quality workmanship. I think with some upgrades this product would be great. Increasing size and adding a barrier between the wood with vinyl sheets and making the vent holes so they give airflow but don’t allow animals to escape.

I really love it. It’s the perfect size for my dwarf hamster!!!

I love it but the one thing that was a little off about it was the holes on the sides they were too big so I got chicken wire and covered them.

Great Guinea Pig or Large Hamster cage

Super easy to build, classier than the traditional cage. Great for larger guinea or hamster due to the size of the air holes which I’d make smaller if possible

Super easy to build, classier than the traditional cage. Great for larger guinea or hamster due to the size of the air holes which I’d make smaller if possible. We have a Robo hamster so it will need to be changed so he can’t get out. I do really like the cage and it will definitely be used for something in our home whether a part time hamster run or fun barn for my kids ponies.

I was searching high and low for a hamster cage that would be " cat proof " & this one is perfect!! Easy access with liftable hinged lids. And the front is removable plexiglass for super easy cleaning. I love the natural look of the wood over your normal painted aluminum bars. The cage is currently being used for 1 hamster but is large enough for two!! Or even a guinea pig! If your in the markwt i highly suggest you consider the coziwow

not for escape artists
