Is this safe for shod horses

These hay bags are safe for use with shod horses with appropriate caution taken. We recommend that the hay bags are only used as hanging feeders with shod horses. These bags should not be left on the ground for feeding as a shod horse can damage the bag or tangle their shoes in it.

How do you hang it?

To put the slow-feeder over your bale, simply hold it upside down and slide it over the bale. Then flip the bale over and close the top. Lace the end of the rope without the loop through the four adjacent O-rings, leaving a little bit of room at the end. Then, lace the rope through the loop at the middle of the hay bale. To complete the figure eight, lace the loop through the remaining O-rings. Pull tightly and lace through the loop one more time, which will allow the bag to hang from the center.

Do you hang this feeder from a rafter so that they can get to all 4 sides or against a wall or fence?

Well made full bale holder

I have 3 of these hay nets. They are super heavy duty and do not rip. They hold a full bale comfortable. I use them for both my cows and two horses. They waste less

Not as advertised

It’s a decent hay bag, but it’s overpriced. $100 is fair for a full bale bag, but this one is way smaller than a full bale. It fits maybe half of one. It’s sturdy

It’s sturdy but it was advertised as a full bale bag and it just doesn’t hold nearly that much hay. It does cut down on waste, but no more than a hay net does.

Also, a little tip…..I hang some hooks on my horses gate and hook some of the loops from the bag on those hooks in order to mimic an extra set of hands so you can fill it super easy and super quick. These have been a game changer for me, my busy schedule, and my five horses who now get to have basically 16-18 hours of free feed on their grass hay( better mimicking grazing for their digestive systems). The bags weigh about 5lbs and I’ve had mine for over a year now and they’re still holding up beautifully!!!!

works for me!

I have two of these and only two stalls; one horse for each. I am purchasing a third so that I can have it stuffed and ready when I am out of town and my helpers

I have two of these and only two stalls; one horse for each. I am purchasing a third so that I can have it stuffed and ready when I am out of town and my helpers need to refill. I have noticed that my two horses can plow through (pun intended) one bale in two days, but its winter, and its cold, so oh well. These are very sturdy and take no time for a new horse to accommodate.
