About This Item

Details

  • Offers an efficient and hands-free way to clean up pet messes in the yard. This system works like a miniature septic tank. Waste Terminator Digester is safe for the environment and non-toxic when used as directed, but should be kept away from children and pets
  • An enclosed galvanized steel tank with a large, built-in overflow tube is easily opened when the polyethylene plastic lid is pressed with your foot
  • This system comes fully assembled; just place in an area with good draining soil. It's ideal for most soil conditions except heavy clay
  • Shovel stool into the system and add water along with Doggie Dooley Waste Terminator Tablet once a week to break down the dog waste. It can hold the waste of up to two large dogs or four small dogs
  • The Waste Terminator Digester is a specially-designed blend of bacillus subtillis bacteria and protein enzymes which work to break down dog waste. These natural-acting bacteria are "mother nature's housekeepers" and work to break down organic waste in the environment

Will this work when the weather is freezing?

Answer by ChewyOct 23, 2025
It depends on the weather! The Doggie Dooley uses natural bacteria to break down waste, which only works when it’s warm enough. It’s not meant for use in winter when temperatures stay below 40°F. You can leave the unit in the ground, just don’t add waste during the cold months. Let it rest until spring. Spring startup: Clean up your yard and throw away any waste left from winter. Don’t dump all of it into the Doggie Dooley at once, as doing so can clog the system.

We live in Florida where the soil is very sandy. Would this effective here? Thank You.

Answer by ChewyAug 14, 2019
The Doggie Dooley can be used in all 48 continental united states, as long as your yard is eligible for this item's installation. To see if a Doggie Dooley will be effective in your yard, dig a hole approximately 1 foot wide by 2 feet deep. Pour approximately 5 gallons of water in the hole, and then check the hole in 24 hours. If water is completely drained, you have fairly sandy soil and a pyramid style Doggie Dooley is recommended. If there is still standing water, check again after 48 hours. If the water is gone, you can use either the tank or pyramid styles of Doggie Dooley. If after 48 total hours there is still standing water in the hole, a Doggie Dooley will not be an effective waste management system in that location of your yard.

I live in South Carolina, can I use this system with our red clay dirt we have down here.

Answer by ChewyJul 14, 2018
This unit does not work as effectively in soils with heavy clay content.

can I use compostable dog waste bags in this system? will they break down?

Answer by ChewyDec 19, 2019
Biodegradable plastics take three to six months to decompose fully. Since they take a longer time to decompose than pet waste, disposing of dog waste bags in the Doggie Dooley could cause the system to back up and not work properly or efficiently.

I liked the idea of not throwing a bunch of poo in the landfill...

I bought one of these and spent HOURS digging my hole, and the plastic lip at the top separated from the metal holding tank below, meaning I had to get on my hands

I bought one of these and spent HOURS digging my hole, and the plastic lip at the top separated from the metal holding tank below, meaning I had to get on my hands and knees on the ground (face right above the poop water) and try to fish the heavy tank out as it continued to break away from the top (wider) part meant to keep it from falling in the pit. I was unsuccessful, as it broke apart completely, and I was forced to bury the whole thing, dig a new hole, and Doggie Dooley wouldn't send me another or give a discount, so I bought a new one here at full price.

It's ok. It works. But kind of a pain

It is a discreet and immediate way to discard poop immediately. It doesn't smell. The top of the unit is plastic and the hinge is lightweight. I might be worried

It is a discreet and immediate way to discard poop immediately. It doesn't smell. The top of the unit is plastic and the hinge is lightweight. I might be worried about the dogs or other animals getting into it; I have mine behind a gate. It's kind of a pain to have to keep pouring water in it all the time. I live in the midwest, so not working in the winter may present a problem.

Not quite right!

This system works, once you get it installed! This s my second, I have a large property and several dogs to clean up after so I’m adding a second one. This is larger

This system works, once you get it installed! This s my second, I have a large property and several dogs to clean up after so I’m adding a second one. This is larger. States it is steel. The one I just received has a plastic top, not happy about that. Top of the first one broke that’s why I bought the “ Steel One “ although heavier, not steel!

the description is misleading

It's described as being full stainless steel. Then as you dig into the description you find it says flip top lid, is plastic, dig deeper, on your find the whole lid is plastic. Little misleading. Also the hinges that hold the lid flapper, are very thin plastic being held by two very tiny pins. The gluing, workmanship on the inside doesn't look very professional, some heavy glue parts some barely glued at all. And in one photograph you'll notice the lid is already warped so it would not sit flush on a flat surface. This is an item that needs to be outdoors and last for years. I see it lasting a year maybe two. As far as its functionality, can't say have not dug the hole yet, but everything I read is saying as long as you follow the instructions to the t, your whole depth how often you drop tablets and water etc, then it will work fine. I plan on following the instructions.

Great investment.

This has been a great investment, even the kids are more willing to help clean the yard.

I just didn't know that you couldn't use it in Winter or freezing temp. It makes sense but I how to find an alternative during cold season.

They did not use it. Not exactly what I expected. Dogs are too big and yard is big. Would be good for smaller location and dogs

Poop Solution

I’ve only had it installed for a week so I’ll tell you it’s worked well so far but be advised a gallon of water must be added daily to help break the dog waste down
