This holds about 10 days worth of food for my cat. She doesn't wake me up at 5am for food anymore, which is a relief, and I can leave her home alone for a night without arranging for a neighbor kid to come over and feed her. The only drawback is that the dispenser settings don't have a volume associated with them, so it took some trial and error to get the appropriate meal size. Including a volume table in the directions would've bumped this up to 5-stars.
It works OK but you can't clean it. You can't submerse it in water, you can't put fluids inside it, the instructions are to "clean with a damp rag only". Dry cat food contains fat which will cling to the sides and especially inside the brush and corners and gaps of the dispenser mechanism. Any container meant to hold food NEEDS to be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected on a regular basis, which is simply not possible with this feeder. This quickly becomes a breeding ground for bacteria. I suppose you can attempt to completely dismantle it, which I will try but I'm fairly sure that I'll simply throw it away rather than risk the health of my pet. Before leaving this review, I asked, on multiple platforms, how to clean it and have not received an answer.
I've had two of these feeders for close to a year now. My biggest gripe about the machine is that it just doesn't go off sometimes, so my cats will miss a feeding. There's no discernible reason why this happens. The interface to set the clock and feedings is thin plastic that's all scratched up from pushing its little buttons. It's also impossible to clean. On the plus side, my cat can't break into it - because of its egg shape, it's difficult to knock over, and even when he does manage to push it over on its side, the lid stays closed. He also can't get his paw up into the shoot, which he used to do with his old feeder.
I've owned this feeder for about 2 weeks now, so I'm really hoping it doesn't go kaput as soon as the other reviews have mentioned. My cat has had an overeating problem for a while, she will engorge herself and then go vomit it somewhere right after. It was to a point I felt like I was cleaning up undigested cat food piles every day, and while I started feeding her smaller portions, I'm not home all day so she would be missing meals. This feeder is perfect, each portion is small so it gives a lot of room to adjust how much she needs. Right now I have it set for 4 am, 9 am, 1:30 pm, and 6 pm and she hasn't had any complaints or puking ever since we've been using this while still getting enough to eat. She actually keeps her food down now since I don't have to overfill her dish to make sure she gets enough to eat, it just feeds her a little while I'm gone or sleeping. Instead of using the dish this came with, I use her little maze dish to try to slow her down as well. I love this thing and hope it lasts a long time, worth the money
I bought two feeders for my cats. I'm happy with them so far, and my sleep is happy too. It took a while to set up, mostly because I had to experiment on how many rotations were needed to match what I already gave my cats. I removed the bowls and propped the feeders on little wooden blocks. This gave the cats more room for their ears and space in general. The bowls are nice, though. The only thing that made me a bit hesitant to use them was that one feeder has a black thing inside of the portion wheel, and the other doesn't. Every other portion has black plastic over it. Obviously, it's to stop a cat from digging up inside the feeder. I wasn't sure if I should use either of them since one has the black plastic, but the other doesn't. I did some searching to see if the black plastic should be there and on the actual product website, it's missing in the pictures. I guess it's just an extra perk. They both work and dispense the food. Overall, I'm happy with the product. Whether or not I'll purchase again depends on how long they last.
Well, moreover what comes out of it, lol. That's another review. Mom just bought it; easy set up. Love the 4 meal and portion control options. Hasn't recorded her voice because the motor moving and my food hitting the bowl is enough to get to me flying to the feeder! No, it is NOT loud at all, I just hear EveryThing! It's a win-win, she can do overnights and I won't starve!!
This feeder saves me so many spoons. I don't have a ton of energy and having one less thing to keep track of is clutch. My only complaint is that I wish it had an indicator for when the food is low. My cat had an empty dinner today (which I course fixed, don't worry), and I can't help but wonder if he had enough for breakfast this morning. But otherwise, I love having a feeder that actually looks cute!
After months of a crying cat in the early early morning I finally got each cat one of these feeders. The set up was fairly easy, it does have a 24hr clock. Both cats now run to their feeder in the morning and the crying before hand has almost stopped. I think the crying will stop as it has become a learned behavior. Plus we have only had the feeders a couple of weeks. I really like that these units plug in, but has battery back up. The food dish is removable so it can be washed. So far, is it a great unit!
It's nice and compact...not too big or small. I like the fact there's a separate bowl that is easy to wash. However it dispenses very little at a time compared to another brand feeder I have. It's more like a treat dispenser and not so much a feeder. If you want your pet to lose weight or disperse treats..this feeder would be a good choice.
This machine is such a lifesaver. It works perfectly and has made me and my cat very happy. I work two jobs and it helps that she doesn’t have to be hungry when I’m not home. Easy to program and set up. I love it.
