Does motor power off if water is low?

The Smart Fountain Plus 3.2 Liter is designed to turn off when the water is low. The Pump has a built-in sensor that first changes the light from Blue to Red as a visual low water warning, then if it runs out the pump will automatically turn off.
How often do you have to change the filter. Also there was a rubber cylinder stick that i removed because the top wasnt closing properly. When I removed the cylindar thing it closes and works great. Does this effect the filter process? Wanted to make sure I didnt remove a important part.

For better quality of water, rinse the filter with water thoroughly before use and replace it every 2 to 4 weeks to maintain water freshness. The rubber coupler is required to ensure a tight seal between the diversion tube and the pump, if removed it could reduce the water flow.

my cat loves it

This water fountain is literally the only one my cat will drink from and my most recent one just broke:( I think this was my third one of these exact fountains, they last around 6-8 months and then the motor,I think, goes out. They do need to be replaced more than i would like but since my cat loves it I will continue purchasing!! It also has a very strong spout which my cat loves!!

Great fountain for my dogs

I looked for a long time to find an appropriate dog water fountain that would fit my dogs needs as well as not being to overly fussy for me to keep clean and that also filters my dog's water. Now, I know a dog will drink out of a muddy puddle whenever possible but I do like to offer clean, filtered water for them even though they will drink anything. This fountain is large enough that it holds enough water for my three small dogs (1: 4.5 lbs, 1: 11 lbs, 1: 14 lbs) for at least a week. It has a decent filter that I reuse and have not yet had to replace. Also, while there are some smaller parts that need to be cleaned (opening the fountain pump to clean all the smaller parts and pieces is necessary), the filter provides clean water for my dogs and I only have to deep clean the pump pieces about twice a month. Note: the pump pulls apart and there is a spongy part that needs to be removed and cleaned (I use Dawn detergent to clean it) and I use a bottle washer the size of a straw cleaner to get into some of the smaller areas. There is a little internal cover inside the pump that also comes off so you can clean the part of the pump that spins and needs to be cleaned when you clean the rest of the pump as well. I have seen others complain that the pump stopped working but if you clean it regularly, you shouldnt have any issues. The only thing I have noticed is that when you clean out the top of the fountain and replace the filter, it can be easy to damage the plastic "arms" that hold the filter in place so be careful when replacing the filter housing.

Both have ended up leaking!

We purchased this for our cat who loves water from the sink. This really was great for us, however within a few months of purchasing, it began to leak so much water. I contact Chewy customer support who were amazing and sent us a replacement. Again, the replacement was leaking too! Save your $ and get a different fountain.

Inferior Pump

I have had this for just under a year now. I had loved it, but the pump just crapped out on me. It should last longer than that for what you pay. Now I have a whole box of brand new filters that I can't use.

Terrible to clean

I have had this fountain for a few months now. The filter is easy to clean and I was it out with soap pretty often. Unfortunately its hard to clean out the pump. The water fountain is starting to smell as if it has been unkept which I believe its due to the pump, i replace the filter more often than suggested. I would give this product ) stars if I could.

Loved it until it started leaking

Our cats absolutely love this fountain, but we recently noticed that our floor boards started to warp and it turns out that this fountain was the culprit. There was no noticeable leak at first, but the bottom of the fountain had noticeable condensation and a very, very slow, small drip coming from the area near the power adapter port. I never would have noticed it until the floor boards started to warp. We will have to replace the floorboards that were warped from the water damage. The fountain is still functional, but I will have to place it in a plastic or ceramic tray to catch the water/condensation and keep it from damaging the floor further.

Water fountain

This is an amazing buy. One thing I recommend is buying a second filter to replace it so you wont have to wait for another one. My dogs love it and prefer this to their bowls

Don't Purchase

This fountain barely pushed any water out, certainly not a "fountain" and that only lasted for 3 days, then it quit altogether. I emailed Chewy directly and have yet to get any kind of response.

Cats love it! No longer have to share the bathroom sink with them. One problem...Chewy doesn't carry the replacement filters.

stopped working

I loved this for the first month and then it would just not work after cleaning and filling it up.
