Vet Formulated with Quality Ingredients

This high-protein food naturally optimizes your cat’s body mass and appetite levels through simple, high-quality ingredients. With added vitamins, minerals, and other trace nutrients, cleanprotein helps support cats in all stages of life.

Dr. Elsey’s cleanprotein

Dr. Elsey’s cleanprotein was inspired by the protein levels found in natural prey. By excluding plants commonly found in other cat diets, it has low oxalate to help ensure healthy kidney function and an active lifestyle.

The Kibble Cats Love

Protein is an important nutritional profile in your cat’s diet, with animal proteins having the highest biological values (BV) compared to grains, fruits, and vegetables. Dr. Elsey’s cleanprotein helps promote a healthy, active lifestyle for all cats.

The Proof is in the Protein

As cats age, they absorb and metabolize protein less efficiently. That’s why it’s so important to feed high-quality protein. High protein can help maintain lean body mass and support a healthy immune system.

She asks loudly for it

Our 8 year old female kitty asks boisterously for her meal sometimes and needs her protein. She loves this and digs in happily. Seems to set well in her tummy

High quality, but cats did not care for it.

My older cat who needs the calories would not touch this. Another cat ate a bit of it half-heartedly.

Mixed Feelings!

I believe in truthful reviews, so while I am a Dr. Elsey's partner, I am going to be truthful in my review! Pros: Packaged beautifully. Easy to store, the labels are easy to read, and the food smells better than most cat food! I also love that they offer pork and rabbit as options, it really enriches my cat's lives to have those more exotic (to them) flavor profiles! Neutral: I wish the pate came with more sauce than it did- I feel like it would help with transitioning, or for cats like my little freaky vampire boy who likes to slurp the moisture out of his food! Cons: If you are transitioning to this food, you must do so EXTRAORDINARILY SLOWLY. I am a veteran cat owner, and currently have seven. This did give my cats the runs, despite a cautious switch over. If you have a cat that already has a sensitive stomach, proceed with more caution than you think you need!

Hard to eat

The beef is very dry. Like overcooked hamburger meat. My cats like it but it's too hard to eat. Doesn't seem like there is any fluid in it. It's super hard to chop

Love the ingredients and our cats love it, but they recently stopped making it in the 5.5 oz cans, making it much more expensive for the same amount of food. We will be looking into alternatives and deducted a star for this reason.

When I first ordered this cat food our cat loved it. But the second order I noticed the consistency was tougher, and needed coaxing for him to eat. Turns out, the cans were different. Maybe the company has updated and Chewy needs to get rid of the old stock (not expired, just older), or they have different canning facilities. But I am not sure customers can be guaranteed one or the other. So, for now it’s a gamble. This brand is always recommended for diabetic cats so we want to buy it, but not if we always get the old stuff. Need to investigate.

Gray and lumpy

I had great expectations for this cat food from Dr Elsey but it was terrible and my 4 cats thought so too. It was gray, lumpy and covered by a gelatinous gravey

I had great expectations for this cat food from Dr Elsey but it was terrible and my 4 cats thought so too. It was gray, lumpy and covered by a gelatinous gravey. None of my four cats, two indoor and two outdoor ranging in ages from 11-19 would have anything to do with it. Back to reliable Purina Pro Plan.
