Ingredient Information

Feeding Instructions

Vet Formulated with Quality Ingredients

This high-protein food naturally optimizes your cat’s body mass and appetite levels through simple, high-quality ingredients. With added vitamins, minerals, and other trace nutrients, cleanprotein helps support cats in all stages of life.

Dr. Elsey’s cleanprotein

Dr. Elsey’s cleanprotein was inspired by the protein levels found in natural prey. By excluding plants commonly found in other cat diets, it has low oxalate to help ensure healthy kidney function and an active lifestyle.

The Kibble Cats Love

Protein is an important nutritional profile in your cat’s diet, with animal proteins having the highest biological values (BV) compared to grains, fruits, and vegetables. Dr. Elsey’s cleanprotein helps promote a healthy, active lifestyle for all cats.

The Proof is in the Protein

As cats age, they absorb and metabolize protein less efficiently. That’s why it’s so important to feed high-quality protein. High protein can help maintain lean body mass and support a healthy immune system.

About Dr. Elsey’s

Dr. Elsey’s is a veterinarian-owned brand dedicated to meeting the complex needs of cats. Founded in 1987 with the first all-natural clumping cat litter, their line has since grown to include a variety of products for cats at every stage of life.

My senior cat, Lexi, was diagnosed with diabetes about 18 months ago. We transitioned him to the vet diet easily and he was doing well. Then he began nibbling the other cats' kibble, and his blood glucose readings went wonky. I switched all of the cats to Dr. Elsey's rabbit kibble, and immediately after the transition was completed, all three cats developed black, semi-liquid stools. A real pain to keep litter boxes clean! Had to discontinue.

Brand name.

05 kitties absolutely love this flavor. I get the salmon, the duck, and the rabbit, and the rabbit is by far the biggest hit with them.

My cat not only has severe food allergies, but he’s also an extremely picky eater. We’ve been trying out all sorts of foods since he got his allergy diagnosis and this is the only dry food he’ll eat! We ran out recently and unfortunately, this food has been out of stock for quite some time now, so we’re patiently waiting to order more. I was hoping he’d like the other dry foods by this brand, but we tried the turkey one and he won’t even go near it. So! Waiting for rabbit!

I have 4 cats in total. One is a 17 year old man thats been having some difficulties keeping his musculature maintained due to age. Elderly cats typically require higher protein. I have noticed nearly an immediate change in him. He’s gaining back some of his weight and seems to thoroughly enjoy the food. One of my other cats is a 3 year old with chronic rhinitis and difficulty smelling things right and strictly eats kibble (refuses wet). I wanted a kibble for her that would help with her inflammation and prevent the onset of diabetes due to frequent steroid use. She LOVES it. I was worried she would not since shes a bit of a TikiCat hater and seems to despise anything good for her lol. I was amazed with the protein content of the food and my old man cat LOVES the rabbit flavor. While pricier than I would like, I appreciate the quality. My only “complaint” (besides price) is that the food is quite hard compared to other kibbles. My cats eat it just fine, but i have noticed the very loud crunching and extra chewing of the kibble compared to other foods. My old man cat seems ok with me soaking it in water for him just to make it a little easier for him. Just something to keep in mind for cat owners with dental issues. Overall, I think this is a great option for cats that refuse wet food but require higher protein and omega content in their diet. While higher calorie than other kibbles, I have noticed it seems more filling for my cats compared to purina or tikicat. Hope this review helps others!

It can be a true struggle to manage multiple disease states for cats. Our adopted stray male turned out to be FIV+, Diabetic, with IBD so finding an affordable and palatable food with low carbs and high protein with no grain was tough. Our Chief loves Dr. Elsey's and I am so glad it is available through Chewy with NO Rx needed! Wet food is best for our guy but cat still love crunchy food and this is a perfect supplement and is even good to give our little man as a treat. He gobbles it up. The Rabbit and Chicken formulation was the only option available at the time and Chief digs it. Will also try the Chicken formula when it is back in stock. We have it on Auto-ship. Highly recommended!

It’s super clean no unnecessary ingredient’s like unnecessary fruits, fish, and chemicals which cats don’t need. Love that this is very high protein so this one is perfect for cats. No stomach sensitivity to it and all 3 of my cats love it !
