Foods Made to Match Your Pet

When shopping for Dr. Tim's pet foods, you'll notice the labeling indicates an activity level. That's because they're made to complement your pet's lifestyle, with ideal ratios of protein, fat, carbohydrates and fibers to help her thrive. You'll find recipes that are specially formulated for active pets, low-key pets, extreme athletes and those in need of weight management.

Active

ACTIVE: This food is designed for the sporting dog that's active more days than not—dogs who hunt or jog every day, herding dogs, police dogs and the like. It's made for maximum digestion, an important consideration for these dogs that's often overlooked. Protein types and levels, fat types and levels, and fiber sources are formulated to maximize performance and recovery.

Casual Lifestyle

CASUAL LIFESTYLE: This is a diet intended for the dog who lives a normal lifestyle—sleeping on the couch, running around the backyard or going on car rides, walks or hikes and basically just living the good life. The only regular exercise she might get is tail wagging when she sees you at the end of the day, or some loving nose nudges.

Extreme Athletes

EXTREME ATHLETES: This food is for dogs who are serious about working nearly every day for long periods of time, such as sled dogs and dogs who hunt most days of the season. It's extremely high in fat, high in protein and low in carbs, with the highest levels of essential omega-3 fatty acids and loads of antioxidants. Performance, endurance and recovery are all enhanced.

Weight Management

WEIGHT MANAGEMENT: This diet is intended for the dog who has put on some extra weight. High protein allows your overweight dog to be more active, and moderate fat allows her to feel satiated so she doesn't beg—an essential part of the equation. The omega-3 and antioxidant profiles help reduce the inflammatory stress that's prevalent in an overweight dog, too.

About Dr. Tim's

As a veterinarian and accomplished musher, Dr. Tim Hunt understood his dogs' need for a food that promotes stamina, endurance and performance through proper digestion. Better for dogs

    By on

It’s a good thing I have dogs to feed these to, because my cat doesn’t want anything to do with them after a couple attempts. He gave it a good shot, but these are so hard he couldn’t chew the pieces. They’re not your typical freeze dried texture. Even my dogs had trouble with them. I also tried to wet them for my kitty so he could try them softer, but they got a bit slimy, so he didn’t like them that way either. I’ll give the rest to the pups, but definitely won’t be repurchasing.

    Greasy Feeling

    By on

My pup seems to really love these but I hate handling them. I use a lot of freeze-dried snacks for him but these ones feel really greasy in your hand. Not my favorite but my pup seems to really enjoy them.

Not sure about these for cats

    By on

My cat really, really wanted these so badly but had a very hard time eating them. They are too fibrous for her to chew well. Not sure how this will go. I will try one more time to give her some. For cats they need to be not so hard to chew up. I think they may be best for a dog.

    Practically Ate the Bag

    By on

My dog is not one to do tricks or obey commands for treats. He usu. just has a take 'em or leave 'em attitude. Not with these. He tried to tear into the bag & would have eaten the entire contents in one sitting if I had not been on hand to stop him.

    My dog loves tripe!

    By on

For those of you who can't stomach the smell, they have no smell whatsoever. However, I use smelly treats in my training so I wish I read more carefully. My girl loves them though!

    NOT green tripe

    By on

Well I was looking for green tripe but got these "clean tripe" in a green label by mistake. These are not the same thing and from what I've read, do not have the same benefits. Real green tripe retains some of the helpful bacterial while these clean tripe have been power washed which cuts down on smell but also gets rid of the benefits. Other than that, my dogs do enjoy these a lot so it's not a total waste. The texture is a bit like jerky, I didn't experience any rawhide-like pieces.

    Pom adores this

    By on

I adopted a kennel dog who had never had much pet experience. He's not sure what to do with a number of toys or treat items, but he has no doubts about this. It's his favorite. He's not a strong chewer, and for a 10 lb dog some of the pieces are on the large size, so I cut them up into chips with scissors. Large dogs may find some of the smaller bits better as a food topping. Some pieces are kind of greasy, but the dog doesn't mind it. I haven't noticed much odor to it at all, but he seems to sniff it out just fine.
