How do I get birds to be attracted to use it I have filled it with bird seed?

Answer by ChewyJun 18, 2021
Birds are creatures of habit, and it can take them days or even weeks to use a new feeder. There is something new in the yard that they are not used to, and they need to warm up to it first. Temporarily placing the feeder near a shrub or tree where birds will feel safe can also encourage them to explore the new feeder. We would suggest temporarily removing other feeders in the area so that the birds must use the new one. Oddly enough, filling the feeder half-full seems to help attract the birds to the new feeder.

Can suction discs be ordered separately?

Answer by ChewyMay 09, 2025
At this time, Droll Yankees does not offer separate parts for any of their feeders.

Can this be use for water/birdbath?

Answer by ChewyNov 27, 2020
The observer cannot be used as a bird bath because it has drain holes in the bottom of the feeder.

I tried everything to get this feeder to stick to the window but it just kept falling off on one side and hanging sideways due to only one side sticking until it fell off completely. I ended up having to toss it. Bummer because I liked the idea of it on the window for my kitties to watch birds. Still on the lookout for one that will work.

It still hasn't broken, but I can't get it to stay on any of my windows.

I enjoy this feeder on my patio windows. I like the cover for the seeds but the top is a bit low for some of my birds. Doves keep trying to balance and get the seed

I enjoy this feeder on my patio windows. I like the cover for the seeds but the top is a bit low for some of my birds. Doves keep trying to balance and get the seed. Also, I remove the window feeders occasionally after squirrels figure out a way to knock them down. Precious, cute, yucky squirrels!

I've been buying the Droll window feeders for years. They last for several years and the suction cups are strong. I've purchased about 10 of these, and only on one occasion I had a defect in one of the suction cups. The birds and my cats love this feeder!

Royal, my amazing 16 yr. old dog passed away. Being in my 80's, I was concerned about adopting again. Decided on outdoor small birds. Choose this feeder for my deck door with the intention of luring red throated finches. It took 2 weeks, but they found it! I knocked it off by mistake and it didn't crack! Repositioned it so that won't happen again!

We bought these for our indoor bird atrium. We have a really tall atrium that 6 Finches live in and a shorter one for 2 more. And instead of Food in bowls on the ground, we bought these to stick up higher on the glass doors. These will work really good for the windows outside. I may get another one to place on my kitchen window above our sink.

My cat loves this bird feeder. He’s been a bit restless with winter coming around but I mounted this and now he’s happy all day long watching. I’ve also just seen so many different types of birds I didn’t know of - black capped chickadee, tufted titmouse, downy woodpecker, gold finch, cardinal, etc. I recommend sunflower seeds and I just put half a cup in every other day. I did put in some cardboard to raise the bottom of the feeder because I realized the birds stopped eating when it got half empty - I think its a bit too deep for most of them. But some soil with cardboard to the half line mark and then the rest seed works great.

Birds love it

Wonderful for mounting on a glass surface to allow watching birds feeding in close-up viewing/picture taking. We use peanuts in ours, and that creates some fun

My birds all hate this. The roof is too close to the feeder. They have a hard time getting at the seed. The sparrows, the cardinals, the mockingbird, all gave up
