rising stim is a game changer

I’m experienced with e-collar training and recently decided to switch from another brand after more than a decade of consistent use. After thoroughly researching the available options, I knew I wanted to move to E-Collar Technologies. While the Mini Educator is extremely popular, I quickly realized it wasn’t the right fit for me, mainly due to the round remote and two-finger turn dial. I was initially drawn to the EZ-900, but the bright yellow remote was a dealbreaker, and I didn’t see any alternate color options in that model. That led me to weigh the PE-900 Pro against the FOB series. I ultimately chose the FE-560 FOB with finger button, as it’s the most compact and straightforward of the options I considered. It’s perfect for my client dogs. I also appreciated that both the transmitter and receiver have dedicated on/off buttons, which many models lack. I’ve been pleasantly surprised. Both components are smaller and lighter than the previous collar system I used. Thanks to a few helpful videos I watched before it arrived, I had no trouble customizing the settings to suit my needs. Since my dogs are already trained on e-collars, transitioning was smooth. However, moving to a system with 100 stimulation levels required me to determine their new working levels and define my preferred range for the rising stim feature. And that feature? It’s a game-changer. With rising stim, you simply hold the button and release as soon as your dog responds. There’s no more manual dialing and no more clients fixating on numbers rather than watching their dog’s behavior. I liked it so much I even reprogrammed the finger button to rising stim. Now, I can keep the FOB in my pocket and either tap for a quick correction or hold and release depending on the level of distraction. This compact, intuitive setup makes it an excellent option for service dog handlers as well. Hands stay free for daily tasks like pushing a shopping cart or ringing up groceries, yet communication with the dog remains easily accessible. My only wish is that the FOB included dedicated tone and vibrate buttons, perhaps positioned on the side instead of using the current L and R buttons. That would round out the design nicely. I attached a lightweight wrist strap to mine and can easily color code additional dogs using wrist straps to tell the remotes apart. The only downside in switching brands is losing the lifetime warranty I had with my previous system. The 2-year warranty offered here feels a bit short for a tool that gets regular use and costs over $250. Overall, though, I’m very happy with this upgrade. E-Collar Technologies has impressed me with thoughtful design, reliable performance, and innovative features that elevate the training experience for both handler and dog.
