It sort of works. I purchased for a smaller tank. There is just not enough suction without removing the gravel extension. But when you do that, you get rocks and it stops working. It would be amazing, with more power.
Works only as good as the operator
I got this, put it together, stuck it in the tank, turned it on, the motor came on but no suction. Tried different batteries. Nothing. Figured great, its broke
I got this, put it together, stuck it in the tank, turned it on, the motor came on but no suction. Tried different batteries. Nothing. Figured great, its broke. Took it apart to clean to return and realized the impeller wasn't in it. Didn't see it in the box when I put it together. Went back to look. Oh, there it is, still in the box. Wow, works fine now! Not afraid to admit human error. The only thing I don't like about it is the suction tube is so big it makes it hard to get around in a densely planted 20 gallon aquarium without hitting the plants or almost uprooting them. But it works well in gravel. The poop went up and stayed in the catch screen. Now fine particales like dust and well saturated algae wafers, they go right through the screen and back into the water. For that I'll use the old siphon if need be. I plan on getting one for my 40 gallon tank. Got dwarf gourami in the 3 20s and don't want to cross the water with the paradise gourami in the 40. But I would definatly recommend. Now I don't know how long it will last or how long the batteries will last. The box I think says 2 year warranty and the batteries, depending on the king, 2-4 hours.
This is so much easier and much less messy than using the siphon tube "vacuum".
I don't have to use a bucket to catch the dirty water that is being siphoned. The collection chamber on the Quick Vac is easy to empty.

Broke within 2 months
I bought this because of the great reviews and disappointingly it broke within 2 months of using it only once per week. I would expect it to last longer than that

I had one of these for years and years. When it finally died, I knew this was he cleaner to get as it gets the job done in our aquatic turtle tank.

What stood our to me was the fact that this vacuum is battery powered. Previously, I purchased a Fluval electric gravel vacuum. However, after about a year one of the tiny wires in the cord broke, rendering the unit useless. I didn't want to repeat this experience. Moreover, the Fluval unit has a internal filter pad that was an absolute headache to clean and had to be replaced frequently. Therefore, I was looking for a battery powered vacuum that has a very fine mesh debris chamber. Then VIOLA!! I found the Eheim gravel vacuum that was both cordless and didn't have expensive and messy filter pads to deal with. The vacuum operates flawless if used as intended. One suggestion would be to toss the included batteries as they don't have much power after a couple of uses. I vacuum my 65 gallon aquarium daily and the water is sparkling clean. It does not create cloudy water as some claim I couldn't be happier with the vacuum and the outstanding customer seat Chewy. They gained a lifetime customer!!
Very helpful product!
