Compounding is a way for licensed pharmacists to create a customized medication that meets your pets specific needs. Compounding pharmacists mix or change one or more FDA-approved medications to prepare a special medication for your pet. For example, if a medication is only available in pill form, the pharmacist might create it in liquid, gel, or capsule form.
Your pet may have a specific health need that cannot be addressed by an FDA-approved drug. For example:

Don't believe the 3 easy steps story. Took multiple emails, phone calls and trips to the Vet to get this Rx. On one phone call I was told they needed more information and were going to call the Vet in 2 - 5 weeks. The cat would have been in Critical Care by then. Just let people know that you need a paper Rx (why, I don't know if the Vet calls it in with her NPI #) and all of the other questions you want answered. The product is fine; the service needs serious improvement.
My oldest was diagnosed with some things and the vet put him on BP meds in the hopes it would reduce the symptoms. And like most cats, Diesel has no interest in taking pills, even the tiny little ones that were originally prescribed. This transdermal option is great. While he's not thrilled to get ear massages when I give him the meds (not his thing), I also don't need to count my fingers or clean up my blood when giving it to him. So bonus there. HOWEVER, getting the Rx filled was a new level of frustration that has me questioning whether I want to ever use Chewy's pharmacy again. They seriously dropped the ball on it all and it shouldn't have taken the extra phone calls, chats and emails to get the Rx filled.
Love this option! My cat was tricky with pills, liquids would mostly be spit out or dribble down her chin. The transdermal cream works for us. It’s our beauty treatment and she loves to do our night cream regiment.
