Questions & Answers

19 Customer Questions

Are any of the ingredients known carcinogens?

Answer by ChewyJun 23, 2019
Sunscreen products are considered to be drugs by the FDA requiring compliance with proof of safety, efficacy, reproducibility and validation. Because there are testing models in the structure missing to verify pet sunscreens differently from human sunscreens, the FDA reviewed the Epi-Pet extensive studies and ruled that Epi-Pet sunscreen met all the qualifying criteria and ruled in favor to safely and effectively use on pets, with the exclusion of cats. It has had no reported adverse reactions in its ten+ years of existence, having been used on tens of thousand of pets.

It says hazardous to humans. In what way is it hazardous and how are we supposed to rub it on our pets if we are not supposed to touch it?

Answer by ChewyJun 09, 2018
The "HAZARDS TO HUMANS AND ANIMALS" heading is a standard safety notice after which potential hazards are listed. It is recommended to thoroughly wash hands after applying to pets. This product is not to be ingested or have rubbed around the eyes.

Is it waterproof?

Answer by ChewyOct 19, 2022
The Epi-Pet Sun Protector Skin Treatment Spray formula is water-resistant.

What is the SPF protection number?

Answer by ChewyMar 25, 2021
The Epi-Pet Spray includes sunscreen ingredients that rate to the equivalent of 30-40 SPF in the sunscreen people would use.

My pitbull is albino so he NEEDS uv tshirts & sunscreen EVERYDAY 2-3 TIMES A DAY! He's a lil' sun pig! This product works well if you follow the directions for the recommended applications I only wish it came in the options of wipes or a lotion as I have to spray this in the palm of hand and apply it and try to spray it down when from him as the smell is overpowering for him then it becomes a wrestling match and play Chase. It does work though since I started using this he no longer gets the severe sunburns and the nasty angry pink and red pimple rash on his underbelly and his poor little pee pee. I love you have a dog in need of UV protection I absolutely would recommend this and also it's the only one approved by FDA and that means a lot, to me anyway.

Residue

Im not sure if this is an issue with anyone else but this left a chalky residue on my dog's fur. I rub it in really well but it still feels gross when it dries.

Smell

I found that I was sensitive to the odor or aerosol. My dog seemed fine with it. Only tried one time due to my reaction. It does have an odor. I understand it

A bit expensive

This works great but it's a lot to pay $5 per ounce. My dog only needs it on his paws, but if I had to use it on his whole body I can't imagine this lasting as long
