My beautiful Ginger has been having health issues. She was a starved mess that showed up at my door with five kittens one by one dropped at my door. What a great mom. After all her vet care, my vet guessed her age at 1. This was 10 years ago. I always suspected she was much older. Her age per the vet is 10. Recently she has lost weight and is having a lot of vet visits due to uti's and stomach problems. I had hoped for years they would develop a pet DNA test. Well, Epi did. I'm forever grateful because just as I suspected, her actual age give or take a year is 15. Wow! Big difference from 10 and this explains her health issues. I was sad that she is that old but also epi gave me the answer I had been looking for and I'm forever grateful for this test. Vets can only guess and it goes to show that they do their best but 5 years is a huge difference and epi can now give people in my position the answer about their pets age if unknown. It's a true gift.
