- Puppy: Feed up to twice the adult amount per day
- Gestation & Lactation: Feed up to 3 times the adult amount per day.
Mix approximately 25% of the new food in with the previous food for the first three days. For the next three days, mix half of the new food and half of the previous food for three days. Lastly, mix 25% of the previous food with the new food. At the end of this period, you will then be able to feed the new food to your dog solely.

Best & Healthiest Food On The Market
I searched, compared and searched again, Chewy's entire inventory of kibble looking for the healthiest option I could find. I think this is it! Real food, low processing, no legumes and healthy grain inclusive, which is essential per my vet. No GI issues and the dogs love it. It is on the expensive side, but I will give my pack of 4 the best I can afford. Wish the bag came in a larger size.
Dog is Happy
Much research and searching led us to this food. We wanted a safe grain free without typical fillers such as peas, pea flour (can cause heart issues) gluten, etc. This is our new kibble and the dog really enjoys it mixed with canned Purina Beyond Chicken and Primal freeze dried raw.
Wish we found this sooner!
Our dog’s countless food allergies cause her yeast ear infections and diarrhea, so it’s easy to tell when a food is causing a reaction. Since switching to Essence LIR, our pup’s ears have been clear and her poops have been solid (FINALLY!!) Fewer ingredients mean less “extra stuff” that make battling allergies difficult. It’s hard to find a LIR that is still high protein and grain-inclusive, and this ticks all the boxes! I do wish the kibbles were bigger for my large breed dog, but hydrating with bone broth/water prevents inhalation (she clearly loves the flavor!) A couple tips: if your dog needs probiotics, you’ll need to supplement, and be sure to check the feeding recommendations. The calories per cup are a little high, and the bag recommends fewer cups than we were used to feeding. Rehydrating bulks up the volume!
Notsomuchjunk
This food has the minimal amount of filler allergens fir my golden retriever. This food does not provide all his nutrients i think Taurine is zero or next to none. His coat on this alone was matted and dull. I added Beyond wet food and his color and coat is looking healthier. Thank you Chewy for working with me to get it right for my boy. His allergies are better

My crocker spaniel mix is allergic to almost to everything and this food has helped so much.
Boxer loves it
We bought this food to be a "treat/reward" food for our Boxer instead of giving him biscuits or other treats. He gets a little handful in his bowl as a reward for various things and he is smart enough to know if it is his regular grain inclusive food (which he loves as well for his meals). He's a Boxer and loves to eat, but he REALLY loves this food. It looks and smells like a rich, flavorful food, so I understand his reaction. We will order it again.

By recommendation of my trainer I am trying this food on my multi allergic dog. She seems to like it and I am happy that she is not breaking out in a rash!!
Disappointing
Highly disappointed because of all the raving reviews of this product. Only gave my dog 1/4 cup, 20% of her diet and she got diarrhea from it.
Best kibble next to raw options
I feed my dogs a combination of homemade cooked and raw, Steves prepared frozen raw, and Essence. Love Essence for my choice of kibble to supplement the homemade and as treats. My dogs love it. Essence is one of the few quality foods with no legumes, peas, and corn. I like the addition of quinoa as the grain. So glad Chewy is selling Essence!
