Etodolac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat mild to moderate pain, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It may also be prescribed to treat other conditions that cause pain, whether temporary or chronic, as well as fever and joint stiffness. Customers may receive this drug under the names EtoGesic, Lodine.
Etodolac tablets are indicated for temporary and long-term use in the management of signs and symptoms of Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid arthritis. It is also used for the management of acute pain.
Possible Side Effects
Etodolac has the same major concerns as all other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs: stomach ulceration, loss of kidney function and inappropriate bleeding. Etodolac may also cause dry eye. Idiosyncratic liver toxicity is possible, though extremely rare. These side effects are dependent on the dose and on risk factors of the animal.
Drug & Food Interactions
Etodolac tablets are not for use in pets with known allergy to etodolac or other ingredients in etodolac tablets.
Do not use this medication if there is a known allergy to Etodolac, and consult your vet if the animal has a history of allergic reaction to aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Tell your veterinarian if your pet is allergic to any medications, or if they have heart disease, congestive heart failure, or high blood pressure; stomach ulcers or bleeding; liver or kidney disease; asthma; a bleeding or blood clotting disorder. Tell your veterinarian if your pet is pregnant or lactating.
