Can these reproduce for farming?
Answer by ChewyApr 29, 2021
These meal worms can be bred and raised. You can start with as few as 150 live mealworms, but it is recommended starting off with at least 500.

what do I feed them
Answer by ChewyAug 27, 2021
Add about ½ cup of fresh (raw) vegetables to your mealworm storage container for feeding. Cut raw potatoes and raw carrots into 1 inch x 3 inches pieces and spread throughout the container for the mealworms. The mealworms may pull the food under the bedding to eat it, which is completely normal. Some moisture is necessary for the mealworms to drink. While the raw vegetables contain some moisture, it is best to add more by using Thirsty Cricket (gel water source). To gut load, mix Mealworm Chow in with the Mealworm Keeper at a 1:9 ratio (1/3 cup of Chow per 3 cups Keeper).

why did i receive babies?
Answer by ChewyOct 17, 2021
The duration of the life cycle will depend on the temperature the mealworms are stored. If all goes well, you should have mealworms to use as feeders within about 3 months. The mealworm will stay in the larvae stage for about 4-6 weeks. The duration of the pupa stage usually lasts around 1-3 weeks. Once the pupa turns into an adult beetle it will reproduce and lay eggs until the life cycle ends and the beetle dies. With this being stated, mealworms are constantly growing in size due to being in the larva stage. Colder temperatures will help to prolong the larva from turning into Pupa.

How long can they be stored?
Answer by ChewyAug 13, 2021
Upon arrival, transfer the worms from the bag to a breathable smooth-sided storage container and place in the refrigerator. Meal worms will last approximately 4 weeks refrigerated.

Better than I get at local petstore

Ordered 500 medium and they did come oddly packaged and I thought there is no way there are 500 worms in here. Well, I transferred them to another container and there were worms everywhere. Didn't count them, but there were a LOT of worms. The majority were very large and only a few smallish ones. I feed the lizards in the yard. Ordering again. Hopefully next batch will be as good.

not sure i will purchase again

about 1/4 of the mealworms were dead, and the packaging made it incredibly difficult to only feed a few at a time. we had to shake them out of crumpled newspapers, so our beardie ended up getting all of them in her house because there was no way to only feed a few and keep the rest for later.

Needs different packaging

The worms were alive and well! My beardy Buddy loves them and it’s the perfect size HOWEVER the packaging is not ideal! They’re crawling everywhere trying to get out the box! We had to find a container poke holes at the top and scramble to put them in. There has to be a better solution to package the worms!

Disappointed

I ordered 250 GIANT meal worms, when I recieved it most of them were dried dead and it didn't even look like it was 250 GIANT meal worms. The size of the worms were very very small. I'm disappointed, they should check before sending them out like that.

meal worms

the freshest worms ever seen by far. pet store is a hit or miss if they even have them.these are more pricey and longevity still remains to be seen. so far so good.

Didn’t stay alive

They are good sized worms as advertised Unfortunately, all of the worms from the package died. I’m not sure if it was from shipping or what. They weren’t very active when we got them and seemed to die days later

this is horrible

I was suppose to receive 100 (GIANT) mealworms. When I received my package there wasn’t 100 worms and majority of the worms was dead. Really disappointed and thought I had got a deal but it was most definitely the opposite…

short one meal

I was pleased with the size although I expected larger worms. The true issue is that I was short I received 93 worms. I always inspect and count my shipments for accuracy and quality. Please do better. Thanks
