Questions & Answers

10 Customer Questions

I see it contains milk. My understanding is kittens/cats are lactose intolerant? Please explain the reasoning for adding milk.
Answer by ChewySep 23, 2022
This food does contain cow milk. Milk is a dairy product high in calcium, protein and fat. It is used to add flavor and variety to your cat’s food.

what is the recommended amount to feed a 10 week old kitten?
Answer by ChewyJul 15, 2020
It is recommended to feed 1 can per 3 to 3 ½ pounds of body weight daily. Divide into 3 or more meals. Continue to adjust as needed to maintain your kitten in ideal body condition and avoid excess weight gain.

Are any of these ingredients from China?
Answer by ChewyApr 05, 2020
Fancy Feast is made in the USA to offer 100% complete and balanced nutrition for the healthy growth of cats. The vast majority of ingredients used in Purina products made in the U.S. are sourced here in the U.S. Like other food companies, they do source a limited amount of ingredients from other countries. These ingredients are primarily essential nutrients, such as taurine and B vitamins that are not commonly available in the U.S. in the quantities needed.

Can I feed this to an adult cat too? If so, what would the feeding instructions be for an adult cat?
Answer by ChewySep 22, 2020
This food is formulated for kittens.

They like it

We mostly stick to the generic varied box of fancy feast kitten food, but saw this one for sale and wanted to try out a few cases. They have all been devouring this one, seem to even prefer it to the regular FF kitten food, go figure.

Good healthy cat food

My senior cat loved this the first few times I gave it to her. Unfortunately she's spoiled and picky in addition to getting older.

Does The Job For The Price

I’ve always been a Fancy Feast fan since it was all my last cat would eat in his final years. I just adopted two itty bitty babies and am looking for a nutritious food yet at a decent price. Chewy always comes through with great prices but I’ve noticed the kittens leaving some in the bowl, even when I only feed them half of a small can between the two of them. They should easily eat all of that. I am now on the hunt for a new brand. I simply hate wasting food and throwing it out.

My kitten likes it

My kitten likes this formula. There are better "quality" kitten foods that might have slightly better ingredients but they don't do any good if your kitten won't eat them. She loves this one and also the salmon version in the same line. Good quality foe the price!

Kitten Approved

This is an amazing kitten food. I am having trouble keeping the adults out of the kitten's bowl. They all like it.

Not liked by many

I foster kittens for our local shelter, and have for years, so I'm always looking for good kitten food. This food was dismissed by the recent litter I have, and they aren't especially picky. Nutritionally it seems good, but taste, according to kittens, not so much.

disappointed

we have MANY kitties, and NONE of them cared for this food........even the barn cats left most of it in their bowls.

Kitten won't touch it

I thought given the brand that the eating part would not be a problem. She won't go near it.

Cycles

My cats seem to go in cycles of what they like and won't eat and right now this is a hit with the kittens. The adult version was a miss for my older kitties, but thought that we would give this a try to keep a healthy mix of flavors, textures and different brands in our food bins. Kittens like FF a lot, and this is eaten regularly now.

Quality Changed

Im a first time cat mom. Got my baby last November and first tried the regular FF variety pack for him because the price was really cheap compare to other brands and it’s accessible to mostly all the grocery stores. But, the smell was horrible and I was skeptical to give it to my baby so I did a research for the best wet food for kittens and surprisingly the FF gourmet was one with the highest recommendation. So I learned about chewy and started to get the FF gourmet, the first time I opened a can, I already knew the difference. The smell was nice and the consistency of the pate and the juice were all just perfect. Until my last order. The packaging were different from the last time but I know that it was the gourmet so I didn’t pay too much attention to it until I opened a can, the smell reminds me of the cheap FF and the juice is thinner than the ones I had before. I’m scared to feed it to my cat. I feel like I got cheated because I paid extra for gourmet and getting the quality of a regular FF pate. I know the difference between the 2 items. It’s just sad because I just bought 4 cases of the gourmet.
