Ferplast Coney Island Themed Modular Hamster Cage

I’m torn about this cage! I was really happy and excited to finally find a cage for our Syrian Hamster, Gregory, that has a big enough wheel included within the cage! I’m glad that a company finally offers one!! However , I have 2 big complaints about this cage! 1) No tunnels fit with the 3 places made to allow for tunnels!! I use the Tiny Tales brand because I have a large Syrian Hamster, as stated earlier. They fit over the tunnel access points, but they can’t latch to the cage in any way! I had to rig them up to stay! I also tried attaching the Kaytee brand tunnels and they were even worse to try to use! They were the exact same size, so they’d need to be taped or something in order to stay in place! Any cage should be made to fit the tunnels interchangeably! 2) The 3 tunnel access points are elevated. My hamster would need to climb the side &/or top of the cage to reach the tunnels to exit! Nothing was included to allow them to climb up to where the tunnels are located. I thought the simpler solution would be to have the tunnels lower to the bottom? There are 2 on the top of opposite sides and then 1 that’s literally right above the wheel! All in all, I thought it was a poorly made cage that may have started out of a good idea! (That being to have a wheel that’s large enough to safely accommodate a Syrian hamster! I’ve literally not seen any other cage have a wheel big enough!) I was really excited that our little Gregory wouldn’t need to be slowly running, with his little back hunched to not hit the center piece of the wheel in his other cages because they were too small for him! I’m still disappointed that the tunnels weren’t compatible and so elevated for him though… I’d only recommend the cage, if you’re prepared to make alterations to accommodate your little fuzzy friends needs!
