Ferplast Giulietta 6 Wooden Canary & Finch Bird Cage

I’m excited about this cage for a canary that I am getting and I want to update this review after the bird is living in it. It seems perfect for a single canary: rectangular for flight and movement, canaries prefer to hop and move horizontally rather than vertically; wider than most other cages meant for a single bird; horizontal bars, which make it easier to mount perches and accessories at varying heights. Also said to be good for a bird to grip; 1/4” bar spacing, ideal for a canary and other small birds who are at risk of trapping their heads in 1/2” and wider bar spacing; and feeding and watering cups that can be filled from outside the cage. I believe those plus the high-sided cage base will help contain seeds more than previous cages I have had. Something to note. The cage dimensions are one inch smaller than those cited in the main product description, which are the dimensions of the wider cage pieces, like the base, thus the length is actually 30.9” rather than 31.9.” But those cage interior dimensions are provided in the product specifications provided at Chewy. You just have to dig through them. I’m curious to see if the provided cups will work for a canary or, as another reviewer noted, their perches make it hard for a canary to access the food. If the latter, I will switch to different feeders. The cage was easy to assemble. Comes with diagrams. I also purchased the coordinating base, which Chewy sells. The cage company, Ferplast, is Italian and their cages are manufactured in Slovenia and maybe Ukraine. I’m forgetting what their website said, but it’s two European countries, and this cage is made of sustainably grown and sourced wood. Apart from all the positive cage features I listed, I opted to buy this cage, which is considerably expensive, because I like its looks. A canary can live up to ten years. I’ll be looking at this cage a long time, and I find it beautiful for my home. Hope this long review is helpful.
