Would this be good for my 2 month old dwarf Hamsters?

Answer by ChewyApr 28, 2019
This cage may be suitable for one dwarf hamster as they need ample space to run and play, and the actual floor space of the cage is an important factor.

Can you move and re place the parts or are they stationary?

Answer by ChewyFeb 28, 2019
The tubes are stationary, but the wheel, water bottle, and upper platform can be adjusted.

would this be a good cage for a gerbil

Answer by ChewyJul 10, 2019

Larger than the last one I bought

My cat wants a pet, and I will eventually get her a hamster. Only 1 pet of any species allowed by my lease. Not yet built, but it looks good in the picture.

Size okay

This is a decent size considering other cages on the market. Hamster loves it, just wish it was more spacious

OK but one oversight

We got this for a dwarf hamster. As others have said, it does not come with detailed instructions just a few small diagrams and it takes some patience to put together. But there is a design flaw, the included water bottle DOES NOT FIT between the cage wires. We bent ours a tad to make it fit so it's not a huge deal, but it means we have to pick one spot for the bottle and leave it there. Just seems like a big design oversight, to include a part that does not fit. Also, for safety, the second-story tray covers half the cage and is supposed to be accessed by the climbing tubes. Ours climbed up there and immediately sailed off the edge (she's fine). So just be attentive, pets could be hurt. The second story needs a high outer wall or to be completely enclosed. It was a lesson I learned after the purchase. Other than that, she loves it. Really enjoys exploring in the climbing tubes and seems more active.

perfect

I bought this cafe for my classroom. It is perfect. It DID come with picture instructions. It’s easy to set up and super easy when it is time to clean it. I love

I bought this cafe for my classroom. It is perfect. It DID come with picture instructions. It’s easy to set up and super easy when it is time to clean it. I love this cage and Rex the hamster does too. It’s not meant for dwarf hamsters, and if you look up the details, it is clear that they can get out. Rex is not a dwarf and we have no complaints. He loves his wheel and it’s quiet during class time.

Not for mice

I bought this cage because the description said it could be used for mice, but my mouse escaped within two days. There are gaps around the doors that she fit her

I bought this cage because the description said it could be used for mice, but my mouse escaped within two days. There are gaps around the doors that she fit her head through, but I found her under the fridge a few hours later and shes okay. Its a cute cage otherwise, much bigger than her old one, but now Im anxious about using it and will probably get something else. Also make sure to prime the bottle, as it wouldnt let water out until I squeezed it

Good for the price

cute for a little girl. The only issue is the gate doesn't close right, I had to do some adjusting to get it somewhat closed tightly.

Ugh. This cage is too small for any hamster. All species of hamsters, even dwarfs, need AT LEAST 450 square inches of floor space. To put this in perspective, this cage has approximately 210 square inches of floor space. Added levels do not contribute to floor space, but are rather a type of enrichment. Also, the wheel included is WAY too small for ANY hamster. A hamster should have a wheel that is 9 inches or bigger. Stay away from wire wheels, as they could give your hamster bumblefoot, a hurtful blister on the foot. The tubes attached to the cage are often unsafe, your hamster could get stuck in them. Lastly, a hamster needs at least 6 inches of bedding in part of their cage so that they can burrow like they would in the wild. For more information, watch Victoria Raechel on YouTube, she has great hamster care videos. Just search her name (Victoria Raechel) and her videos will pop up. You can easily create a proper cage, called a bin cage, for your hamster. Victoria Raechel has a video about how to make one.
