I've heard that the dog and cat formula of this food are the same. Would all the formulas be good for dogs or would the 50/50 be too much fish for a dog. Would they likely get loose stools from this?

Answer by ChewyJul 25, 2019
This 50/50 Turkey and Tuna recipe is intended for cats only. If dogs eat this food, they wouldn't receive the recommended nutrients to be on a complete and balanced diet.

Interesting!

My 2 cats just had major oral surgery and one of them, who used to love another (organic) brand, suddenly loves this. Unsure why but, I'm just happy that he's eating,

This is now the only food my cat will eat. From the first week we tried it her digestion (nary a solid poop since we got her from a shelter 5 years ago and terribly smelly) dramatically improved. She now has "normal" looking (and smelling) stools and we are ALL much happier. It also quickly became the only food she would eat...she seems to know its better for her. I suspect (though I cant say for sure) that it is the lack of any gums or fillers in this food. Even Nulo has a bit of gums in it, her previously favorite food and good quality overall.

For some reason, none of our 6 cats will have anything to do with FirstMate... especially one that is a tuna blend.
