Dog food

My daughter recommended this for my overweight dog. She does a lot of research for her dogs and was pleased with the nutritional content. Plus my dog loves it.

Caused excessive drinking/urinating

After transitioning to First Mate small bites, I noticed my dog was drinking and urinating twice as much as usual. I stuck with this food for about two weeks, at first thinking the drinking was caused by something else. But then as soon as I switched off First Mate, she returned to normal drinking/urinating. We feed a rotational diet of several brands and I've never experienced this issue before. A bit concerning!

Food allergies

This food is the only one that doesn’t give my dog GI upset. I’ve tried several and this one is the best.

Senior dog

I'm hoping this is okay to give to my 70 senior beagle/lab. The smaller bites are easier for her to chew and she really likes it.

I wanted to love this

The first day we have it to our girl, she threw up. Even with the tiny amount we introduced (10 kibbles) we thought the smaller bites would be easier for her tiny mouth to chew ( she’s 3lbs) but she struggled more. We decided to donate the rest of the bag to a family in need.

Great for food issues

So far this has been the best food for my Irish Terrier who has a sensitive tummy. He eats his food after I scatter it around the house so the small bits work better because he has to hunt longer.The bigger pieces are too easy. My only issue is it’s so expensive to buy two bags of small bites vs a large bag of regular size. I wish the small bites came in 28 lb bags too!

Without added fillers and grain free-this food is so much more beneficial to my dogs' diets. Plus, no added peas or lentils.

Impressive story

after a long talk with the MN rep for this brand I was impressed enough to give 3 flavors a try. Slow transition to these foods so I am feeding all 3 flavors as training treats. My dogs love all flavors. Hopefully will transition to using this brand.
