There were other reviewers who noted that there was a major flaw with this design. There’s a hole near the base of the left side where shrimp can get swim out of the main tank and end up stuck in the filter compartment. The same thing happened to us, and after an initial scare, we plugged the hole up with filter sponge. Not sure why a tank for shrimp would have this major oversight, because it’s otherwise a pretty nice tank that’s easy to set up.

tank has a serious flaw
This is an overall nice tank, and I am happy with the quality. However, it also has a serious flaw. There's a tiny built-in hole going into the filter near the bottom
This is an overall nice tank, and I am happy with the quality. However, it also has a serious flaw. There's a tiny built-in hole going into the filter near the bottom of the tank, apparently to keep things running if your water level gets low. I put my shrimp into the tank and went to check on them several hours later, and almost everyone was missing. It turns out they all went into that hole and were then stuck inside the filter. I rescued the ones I could from the top but then had to very carefully pull out the whole sponge filter structure to try and get the rest. I think I saved everyone in the end. That said, I am new to keeping shrimp (but a long time aquarium enthusiast) and it seems odd to me that a tank designed for shrimp would leave such a large opening when it's clear that shrimp would be able to go into it. I filled the opening in mine with a small piece of sponge, but this will also prevent the tank from filtering out larger bits of waste. Fluval: why not screen the opening or do something else when making a tank you know is meant for tiny shrimp? Seems like a huge flaw to let pass.

I use all their lights and chemicals, etc. When I was looking for a 1-2g tank for my bedside (eventually for a betta), and I saw this adorable little thing, I had to buy it! Reading other reviews, the top ones 1, it did come broken. I’m truly not bummed about it though. I’m actually happy I found out now that the bottom of the glass is about a cm higher than where the plastic bottom rim ends agains the table. That glass tank 100% will give out and drop a cm. That seal will NOT hold up that water weight just glued to the rim. Mine came “pre-bottomed out” you could say. Also the plastic lid was cracked. If I find the time maybe I’ll contact them but it’s still holding its form well so I’m using it as intended. 2, I had all my accessories. Nothing was missing. I mean, it’s only day 1 but so far I thing it’s really cute. My pros: -It’s got, what looks like, aluminum corners and aluminum light. It looks a bit industrial. -I like how you can slightly see through to the filter in an ombre like design on the glass. -The water pump really is actually silent, which I found shocking. I expected some kind of hum. -Love the rimless look -It has a small slot in the bottom of the divider, maybe about 2” up, where water is able to come out of on the filter side when filling the tank. It’s position is also high enough where it doesn’t affect the substrate. -Love the all-in-one concept instead of an internal filter or a hang on the back one. -Perfect size for a Betta My cons: -I mean their company is shipping out broke product, or one of their distributors doesn’t know how to ship. Either way, not great. -There is no way to adjust the brightness on the light. It’s just a touch button that has 3 modes: white, blue, and off. -I truly wish the light connected to the Fluval App! Other than the minor damage, that I MacGyvered around, if the light that came with this kit connected to the app, it could possibly be one of the best little starter kits I’ve used.
