I was starting my first saltwater aquarium. This was the cheapest hydrometer I could find so I bought it. I mixed water and measured the salinity and measured really high. Got another from my friend from instant ocean and measured at 1.022. Very inaccurate. Yes I tapped it for bubbles and was on a level surface. Would not recommend.
Didn't they even "test" this product? Not easy to use.......
Main issue: the instruction says to "lightly tap" the unit after filling up. But if you did it'd read very high. It takes some hard taps before it'll read properly

It's hard to get the same reading consecutively that's why I wouldn't trust it until I get almost the same reading 3 times in a row. Besides, the bottom is not really flat( why not???) it'll sit but not secure.

This hydrometer was amaizing. If you have been in the saltwater hobbie you know there are not alot of options when it comes to certain supplies. I was drawn to this hydrometer just for the design, the elegance of the curves mixed with the slight straight bottom really intriged me. My excitement was valid as the only thing that exceeded the design, build, and stength of the hydrometer was its performance. The way it directed my thoughts and movements with every ounce of salt i poured into the water was perfection. I with i could measure everything in my life with as much accuracy and enthusiasm. I loved every second and i cannot wait to do a twenty five percent water change when the time comes.
