I'm pleased with this product. The capsules are easily opened with a twist of the tip; then, squirted into my dog's food. He happily licks off any of the oil if it leaks onto my fingers, and it's good for my 12yr-old lab! It was originally recommended by his vet, but is much more reasonably priced at Chewy!
First, let me say these fish oil caps are fantastic! Easy to use - I just twist the cap off, squirt it on Sam's food, and done. He loves the taste. The first one I tried squirted with abandon and ended up arcing onto the floor. Sam promptly cleaned it for me! I have noticed zero smell. I came to try these because Sam, our 12-year-old rescue, was on Advanced Dasequin when he came to us 4 months ago. My vet doesn't carry AD, nor does he want to, so I was stuck. The difference in Sam's energy level without AD was noticeable. I started researching the ingredients and saw that the AD has turmeric, so we tried that. A little better, but not good enough. Went back to the research and saw the EPA and DPA levels. And here we are! I really cannot stress enough how much more playful and energetic he is with the Omega-3 addition. As a side bonus, his coat is shiny and soft. The Free Form was the only Omega-3 I found with these levels of EPA and DHA that did not include a bunch of other additives. I am so thrilled with the results we have seen with this product. Sam has had zero negative results and so many positive results. So happy to have found this item!
I got this product to improve my dog's nail strength and decrease shedding. They now have the a great shin to their soft coats. Would recommend for large dogs.
Saw a huge change in my older dogs skin and coat. All dandruff disapeared and her coat is fuller soft and shiny. I think this is also helping her arthritis discomfort..she can't tolerate needs but seems a little happier since starting this 2 months ago. I highly recommend. Also, she's fussy but loves these caps..she bites the capsule and it pops in her mouth..she thinks it's so fun
This was recommended by my vet for skin condition on new pup....it seems to be working, but the twist tops don't seem to work for me. I have just stuck a pin in the end and put on his food....good product! thanks
I am Ruari's slave and his coat greatly likes the impact of daily fish oil. Ruari is 12 and a basset hound. Sweet Boy. He was rescued when 2 from a home that could not coexist with young people and pet rabbits. Not such a desirable choice for a house dog. He thrives in our home with a big yard, run of the house, and two slaves. He is beginning to feel the impact of being 12. He has no food possessiveness and is a good eater. He has no anxiety and tolerates us, and the cod liver pills, if they are wrapped in something he likes. If not well dressed he rejects them with amazing ease and smiles as only a basset can. He then cops Bassetude and patiently instructs again in the time;y and correct offering of treats to him. He will nicely roar out his laments about how often his Notabasset slaves fail his training. He definitely does not mind the concealed Snip Tips. He just does not want to taste or detect them going down. He does not like the taste of fish oil or the texture of the naked capsule. Worth the expenditure. He gets one a day and weighs about 50 pounds. Noticeable impact on his coat.
I was having trouble finding this product AND the price is much more reasonable through Chewy. Thank you!
Excellent product, excellent delivery time! Will definitely reorder!
Fish oil in a pump bottle that sits out at room temp definitely reacts with oxygen over time, meaning it goes RANCID, a kind of spoilage unique to oils. Rancid oil is rather toxic. You're giving your dog fish oil for their health... Why give them oil that's any amount rancid and therefore that amount bad for them? Gel caps are a much better solution than pump bottles in this respect. The oil is perfectly protected from air until you use it, and these snip tips are ideal for dosing their food. Cutting open regular gel caps would be messy and possibly dangerous. I don't care to jam pills down my dog's throat every day when she's perfectly happy taking the oil on her food.
My dog will not even try it. One sniff and no way. Tried putting over food, but very stinky and will not touch it. Capsule so big that you cannot give whole and my dog is 100lbs so thought needed the large capsules. Maybe get the smaller ones and give more?? but still smells awful and do not think I could get her to take it.
