Can I choose which text boxes I fill in?

Yes, you are not required to fill in all text boxes. Where multiple boxes are available you can choose the combination of text boxes which best fit your personalization.
How do I get something other than a white background? I didn't see a place to choose color.

To change background color, click the orange button that says "Personalize Now". Options to personalize the image, color, and text will be available. There is a variety of colors to choose from.
Is dog's photo on BOTH sides? What color is background? Below his name, can I add his birth and death dates? Is your message the only one u offer(above his left ear)? Thanks

The image and text will be on both sides. The background is whatever the background of the image you upload is. The birth and death dates can be added in the "Personalize Now" section under "Custom Text 2". This ornament only comes with the "Forever Loved" message in the top right corner.
How will I know what the final product will look like?

The onscreen 3D product preview is an accurate representation of what the final product will look like. As you adjust images in the square preview window, you will see them adjust in the product preview as well! Use the product preview as your guide as you add text, select fonts, choose colors, and adjust zoom and rotation on images.
