Unfortunately I can’t even use this leash because the carabiner/clip opening is so narrow that it doesn’t fit the D ring on any collar or harness I own, and I have several.
I bought 2 of these leashes, one for each dog, in May. In the past few weeks, the clasp has opened and the leash fallen off of the halter, leaving the dog free to race around. I can't figure out how to replace the clasps myself, but I put rubber bands around the part of the clasp that opens to get it to hold more strongly. This has happened with both dogs - both are small, one is a puller, the other is not. It's too bad (and I hope they change this to fix the issue) as I really like the rest of the leash - the padded handle is quite comfortable, and the leash has a little give to it that makes it easy on the hands.
Love this leash. Handle is so comfortable even when our small dog tugs and to run after birds. The clips are very sturdy and easy to attach to harness. The reflective leash is also nice for night walks.
I have had two separate incidents while on a walks with my dog where this leash will just randomly unclasp and unhook from my dogs harness. The first time it happened, I was turned around picking up after my dog, and then when I turned to face him, I noticed he was no longer connected to his leash. As soon as he realized, he ran right into the busy street. Luckily, he came right back when called. I truly felt embarrassed because I thought I did something wrong. However, a few weeks later the same exact thing happened again! I do not understand how this happens as everything seems to be in place, but I DO NOT RECOMMEND that anyone buys this leash based off my experience. Whatever company sells these needs to do a quality reevaluation fast because it’s awful and poor.
I am very disappointed in this leash. On three occasions it has come unlatched from my dogs collar for no apparant reason. One of the occurances, all she had done was roll on her back and when she stood up the leash was no longer attached. There is no safety clasp to ensure this does not happen and had my dog not been well trained it could have resulted in a loss or injury. I do not recommend this leash.
I bought this because my dog has chewed through 5 rope leashes and thought i would give this one a try. So far, so good. She hasn't even made the effort to chew it. It's well made and I like it very much.
Strong enough for my dog.
I bought this as a set with the collar and harness about 6 months ago and even though I still use it most days, I feel like I need to warn people how bad the clasp is. My dog is small (12 lbs) and the clasp is way too heavy and huge, which really bothers her. I had to learn to be careful about swinging it because it once whacked her in the face pretty hard and I almost sent it back. She's super careful and always aware of where that heavy weight is at all times as well. I haven't had issues with the clasp coming off as some have, but it took me several tries to figure out how to get it ON in the first place. The matching collar set's loop is triangular and you have to put it on at JUST the right angle to get it on at all. I honestly thought at first that they had sent me the wrong size and it just didn't fit. Turns out, it's the same hardware no matter the size of the collar/leash/harness and dog! It's sturdy, sure, but total overkill and an inconvenience for smaller dogs and their owners. I wouldn't recommend this for small dog owners like myself, but it's probably fine if you have a large dog. I'm hoping that the triangular things they use instead of loops are larger on the larger size collars and harnesses, but I kinda wonder given that the leash and hardware is all one size even when sold in a set with XS collars. BUT, I love the purple color so much on my little black and white poodle that I still use it, but am changing the hardware out for something more appropriate. It just seems like a terrible choice of hardware all-around for an otherwise great quality leash set.
I like everything about this leash except for the clip that attaches to the collar. It is very difficult to put on and take off. Our dog doesn't make this process easy and it's practically impossible with the clip on this leash :(
This leash has a HORRIBLY designed clasp. It's a spring clasp, which means it can open up easily. While walking our dog, she pulled a certain way, and the clasp came undone and she got loose. This is NOT a leash I would recommend. It's very poorly designed.
