FAQ
The 6-lb box is 19 in x 15 in x 8 in, and the 9-lb box is 19 in x 15 in x 12 in.
Hay and grasses such as Timothy, Brome, Orchard Grass, etc. are naturally grown and harvested. The weather, growing, and harvesting conditions of hay and grasses each year can affect the crop's color. Storage conditions can also affect the color. Hay can be packaged with a beautiful green color however if the product is stored in a lighted area it will begin to turn brown. This does not mean it has lost its nutritional value. It is also possible a bag may include some brownish leaves, again this is not unusual and does not affect the nutritional value of the product!

I hate to leave negative comments but overall I would only purchase this again as an emergency backup. I purchased it fairly regularly for almost a year, if I recall correctly, and at first it was great, especially the 9lb box that I originally would order. Once the 9lb went away, the quality of the 6lb started going downhill. I would consistently get about 1/3 of the box as dust and “fluff”, (super soft almost like tissue paper which my PICKY rabbit wouldn’t touch), and had numerous occasions where I received a box that was majority dark brown and actively smelled like it had “turned”. **important point: When I notified chewy if the bad product, ie Briwn, they IMMEDIATELY sent me a replacement as their customer service is BEYOND compare!!! With the 9lb I could justify ~2-3lbs of unusable but not on the 6lb as I’d have to purchase two of them to make the one 9lb equivalent. I’ve since moved to Small Pet Select myself and have been having a good experience last few months. As an additional point, I’m actually really allergic to hay and would have to wear a mask or watered down bandanna to keep from choking on the dust when I would shake the boxes out outside to try and get eat much out as possible, and all the broken pieces in the Fridco would routinely stab my hands pulling hay, (couldn’t wear gloves as I had to be able to feel if the hay was good or not), which is a ME problem but left my hand looking like a miniature mosquito swarm had hit me. I’ve not had that problem once since switching .
All straw and dusty
Packed really tight so hard to get out of box, seems to be all straw and not much of the wheat pieces, very dusty

Great price
It’s a great price. Naturally by the time we get to the bottom it’s really dusty. I try to transfer it to a plastic tote.

My bun & piggy love this hay and so do I! I have been ordering it on a regular basis and it is always consistently fresh and bright green. There are tons of hay flowers and the smell is so wonderful. My only concern is that the box is not lined with a plastic bag like the competitors are but even still it hasn't presented a problem for us. Its been out of stock for a bit now so i've been forced to go back to Oxbow which has been a real disappointment. It's always brown or yellowish (no so fresh) and the hay flowers are nowhere near as plentiful or as robust as the Frisco brand. I'm not sure why other reviewers are dissatisfied but i have zero complaints and can't wait for this item to become available again.
Not worth it...

My guinea pigs are notoriously picky... but I got a discount to try this hay. It looked very similar to Sweet Meadow Farm's first cut Timothy Hay, but on receiving it... there are significant differences. My piggies took to it like it was the hay they already knew, but over the next few days, they started avoiding it. When pulling it out of the box, I noticed a lot of dust and short broken pieces, but I paid that no mind, thinking I was leaving all that in the box as I filled their hay rack. Over the next few days I noticed my girls sneezing, when they never had before. I realized the hay was way too dusty. But they kept going back to eat it! I finally took the box outside and separated the good fibers from the dust. I ended up with over a pound of dust and small fibers. My next order I went screaming back to Sweet Meadow.
All chaff
My bunnies really dislike this hay. It's all dusty chaff. It's super messy because I have to shake out all the chaff just to get them a little handful at a time

Consistently very good 1st cut hay

I've ordered this hay 4 times over the past year for a total of 8 boxes (7 of the 6 lb & 1 of the 9 lb), and they've all been very good. Green with lots of seedheads, my rabbit's favorite part. The only better 1st cut hay I've seen in the 5 years I've had my rabbit is hay that was shipped in large bales directly from the grower to a rabbit shelter. My rabbit always eats the seedheads and more tender leaves first (off a little carpet) and then I place the remaining stems off to the side in the bottom of her litter box where she's more willing to eat the tougher stems, which is important to wear down their teeth and one of the most important aspects of using 1st cut hay versus softer 2nd or 3rd cut hay which is generally for older rabbits.
Happy bunny
This Timothy Hay is the crunchiest and firmest of all timothy hays that I have purchased for my rabbits. Even though it looks really pointy it's comfortable for

Not worth it

I purchased this box of hay to try to save a couple bucks versus the Oxbow brand I typically buy. Let me tell you, it's not worth it! This was the dustiest hay I've ever tried. Literally dust everywhere when I would grab some, I had to be careful not to breathe it in too. There were lots of weeds, rocks and other random things included. My guinea pigs loved the fluffy tops and the long sticks however they were constantly sneezing and I was too! It took me months to get through this box because I tried to mix it with other hays. I will spend the few extra dollars and get the good stuff from now on.
Meh..
This hay is difficult . It is half dust and makes a mess. It goes everywhere when I try to refill the feeders. My bunnies eat it just fine, I just wish it didn’t
This hay is difficult . It is half dust and makes a mess. It goes everywhere when I try to refill the feeders. My bunnies eat it just fine, I just wish it didn’t get all over the place. Also it comes directly in a box not a bag inside a box like other brands.
