The longevity of these catnip buds will vary for pet to pet. When giving catnip buds to your cat, we recommend crushing a flower piece between your fingers and giving it to your cat after removing the stems.

Is this pesticide free?

From The Field Catnip Buds Cat Treats do not contain any pesticides or weed killers, as they are organically grown and hand harvested.

Are the buds safe for ingestion (by a cat)? My cat always tries to eat regular catnip, thinking this might be a good alternative if she can actually eat it.

Although catnip buds are not considered a cat treat, some cats will nibble on them while they play with them. It is safe for your cat to do so, like regular catnip. We recommend pinching and crumbling the catnip buds between your fingers to release all the natural catnip essential oil, then removing stems if they fell out.
