Can you use this under a heating pad?

If I cover it with a different fabric, would that affect the self heating properties?

If another fabric was put over the mat, that would make for another layer to absorb heat, potentially delaying the rate at which the self-heating mat retains heat. Direct contact with the mat as is would probably provide the most efficient results.

How do you clean it?

Remove excess debris and hair from the mat before washing. Machine wash delicate cycle; cold. Do not bleach. Hang dry; air fluff.

Its been feeling a little chilly in the house so I decided to try these mats for my 2 cats! I'm really happy with this purchase because they are in love with them right away! I have one (Smokey) that's been on his all day, only getting up to eat dinner and then right back on his mat!! He loves it!!! My girl Nikki slept on hers the past 2 nights and just hopped up on hers for bed again tonight! We are very happy!!! Came here thinking I may order more! Lol

Comforting for Older Cats

My older cat (16) has spine degeneration and limps so someone suggested I get one of these. I did, and Lucky (who I adopted 2 yrs ago) seems to find this comforting

My older cat (16) has spine degeneration and limps so someone suggested I get one of these. I did, and Lucky (who I adopted 2 yrs ago) seems to find this comforting. I placed it on the couch where he spends afternoons (I have pet stairs so he doesn't have to jump up or down). I know other people posted that their cats won't use or go near the mat, but I didn't have that problem. So I'd recommend giving it a try.

not sure if it actually works

Got this for my senior dog, I wanted to test if self-heating could work but the results are inconclusive. I put a blanket on top of it because he didn't seem interested

Got this for my senior dog, I wanted to test if self-heating could work but the results are inconclusive. I put a blanket on top of it because he didn't seem interested in lying on the actual pad. He's lied down there a few times since but he always moves spots so idk if it's working as intended

The old cats have figured it out (or simply liked its looks), but the five-year-old isn't crazy about it. I put one on the bed, where the two orange cats like to snuggle together on it. One went into a favorite cat bed, and sure enough, the tuxedo girl sleeps in that bed more often than she used to. Only my younger tortoiseshell doesn't care one way or the other. She prefers to curl up in my lap--and I am NOT going to complain about that.

Bought this for our outdoor cat. Thought I was doing a nice thing. Thought it might keep him a little warmer in one of his gargoyle moments. I see now that I was wrong. Tried for months placing it in some of his favorite perching spots. He refused to look at it. Instead, he turned his disgusted gaze on me appalled at my audacity. That I would assume a beast of his quality would need “warming”. Wherever I placed it he would abandon that location immediately and never look back. In desperation I tried placing it directly in front of his food dishes. Of course, he refused to place a paw upon it. I am ashamed. Gave it to the dog. She loves it!
