How do you know where to stop cutting so you don't cut the nails to short or does it stop for you?
Answer by ChewyJun 22, 2017
Hold the paw firmly while gently pressing the base of each nail with your thumb. Gently grind down the nail going slowly to keep your pet comfortable. Be sure to stop grinding before reaching the quick(blood vessel) to avoid bleeding. Short passes of the grinder are recommended to avoid over-heating of the nail, which can cause discomfort. If you're looking at a dark nail head-on, you will see a small dark circle. Once you see that, you should stop. If you grind the nail too short and it begins to bleed, apply pressure to the tip of the nail to stop the bleeding, or dip the nail in the cornstarch or styptic powder.

My Beagle Daisy's real iffy w/her Paws/PawNails & her ONLY Groomer had a firm/easy touch. How loud & rough, is your product against their nails? Does it work like a faster filer, if that makes sense?
Answer by ChewyJun 26, 2017
It is a smooth grinder, however, it does have a buzz when turned on. To ease your pet with the sound you can turn it on for a few minutes before grinding the nails down. It does work like a faster filer. The design ensures nail trimming is safe, efficient and painless.

I was told not to trim a puppies nails what is the right time to start nail care
Answer by ChewyNov 07, 2017
You can begin to trim or grind nails at 9 weeks of age.

After I cut my pupper's nails, they become really sharp. Does this help prevent that?
Answer by ChewyMay 30, 2019
While using this grinder, it is possible to create more rounded edges on the pets nails.

Takes forever

This nail grinder takes forever to make just a little difference. Our poor dog became so annoyed with the noise, we aborted mission and took her to the groomer. The plastic also started to separate just putting the batteries in.

loud noise

My cat was scared of the noise. And it was messier than regular clippers

It's alright

It's not great, it's not terrible. Have to mess with the batteries to keep it running sometimes. Grinds nails well and dogs don't mind it when it's working well but almost never have an issue free session.

Way too loud

My dogs run as soon as I turn it on. It is very loud and scares them so that they won’t even let me clip their nails like they normally would.

Not what was expected

Every few seconds have to stop and put the "sand paper" back in place. Did not work well with my dog

It works for the most part but it stops grinding sometimes

I was able to use it to successfully buff my dogs nails but if you push on it with a little bit of pressure it will stop moving/grinding. Which is kind of annoying with fussy dogs who don't want their nails done. However, I can still get the job done. It's just not as effective as I would like it to be. Definitely a great beginners tool.

Not a Bad Product

Not a bad product if I do say so myself! I don’t get to use it that often because my dogs are scared of it but when I do I think that it works perfectly. My mother has complimented me on her dogs nails and says that she seriously sees a difference m. One of the main reasons as to why I bought this product is because our girl chihuahua snails grow like crazy (and they are really thick) and since she’s very skittish she doesn’t bite and sharpener her nails like our boy chihuahua does which causes them to curl and grow dig her paw pad. Since it does that it has become increasingly harder to clip her nails especially with them growing into her paw at a fast rate and that makes her very scared and very unwilling to get her nails done. Now that I have this I am able to straighten out her nails every week so that when they need to be clipped it’ll be easy instead of putting up with a fight against my dog to get her nails shortened. I recommend this for small dogs.

Great for Maintenance

Got for our dog and hopefully cat. Getting used to the tool (dog could care less). Seems to work well.

Flimsy: Only worked a handful of times and then broke.

I wanted to like this product but it was cheaply made. It did not hold the sand paper on while sanding. This thing ended up breaking after using this machine less than five times. My dog hated the entire experience to where I had to get his nails trimmed instead. I do not recommend this item.

Not as good as I hoped

The battery pack end doesn’t close all the way and the unit quit working after a month.
